Hey..,.. noone knows anything cos youve never played AFL footy....

Lets just ask Karl Norman whats going on... cos hes played..10 odd games??

Look i think some people are just silly buggers!!!

Synbad,

Do you think you know more about footy than the blokes in the Carlton coaching box?

Do you think you have watched more games than Ratts and have a better understanding of the game than him?

After a game do you think "i would have tried a few things different to the Ratts and co" or do you think "Ratts stuffed it up. He had to do this ...had to do that...if he had of did it my way have got a better result"'?

Do you have the same information as the coaching staff when commenting on game plans, team selections and recruiting?

Do you think there will come a time when we can all get behind the list and the people in charge of the club and give them a chance to succeed ?

I am not trying to bait a dodgy answer out of you but i would like to know the answers before i read any of your future posts so i can put them into perspective.

What an odd day in Brisbane. Been intermittenly pouring. Hopefully the centre square doesn't turn into too much of a glue pot...

if a tree falls

does Ratts hear it?

Will JR get out of the way of it?

Did Fish kick it?

Will Aisake be it?

Give them a go .

They are on an AFL list for christs sake. How long do you want them on a list before playing them.

Aisake is early 20s
Anderson 2 years in the system
Austin was terrific last week

Whilst other teams like Collingwood dare I say back young kids far more we go the conservative approach.

Personally it shits me

Con so what if we can mathematically make the eight.

Its almost impossible
Give these guys a go

Its not as if Thornton, Russell and Fisher are starring

Thornton has been pathetic the last 2 weeks when he has the ball

Indecisive, chippy chippy kicks, lets Hansen lead him to ball by 30m. The week before was the same

Russell say no more
Anderson or Pfeifer to get a gig

Aisake is worth the risk.

Thats the key word risk

Fisher tries but has been found out.
Cant kick

hopeless below his knees
no pace

Then to top it off we select Houlihan a guy who doesnt chase ,pulls out of contests and just lopes along .

Cant afford one guy like that in your team

Definitely not two

I am not a total pessimist

We have improved
Bower in for Saddington is a no brainer even the MC could see.

The fact is Saddington shouldnt have played.
Last week proved Austin in Saddington out

Personally I am disappointed in the MC
and I have no interest in Sat nights game.

Well if you have no interest in the game stop filling the boards with negative posts about it.

No need for that stormin, its all healthy discussion.

One point I would make is that all the discussion so far has been about who should be in and who should be out.

I would much prefer us to try a few positional and game plan changes. You never know what may come off and if some do they will advantage us leading into next year.

How often do you really get to experiment in a real game situation.

Maybe:

Walker as a CHB on Brown, certainly big and athletic enough.

Thornton as a mobile CHF, it was his spot in U18's.

Play Fev up the ground so we have to look at other options. Even play a rotating 4 man forward line of Fev, Cloke/Kruezer, Houlihan, Waite/Thornton.

Play Waite midfield ala Richo.

Bower on Bradshaw. Hampson most of ruck.

Russell run with Black, take him to ball.

Browne permanant back pocket.

Ratts coach from boundary and let Riley run box.

You never know? :-D

Your right, it wasn't needed, my bad.

In terms of positional discussion I do agree with some points. Browne permanantly in the BP. He does need to settle. With Bower back in I believe we now have a best back 6.

Jamo, Bower and Waite should be used as KP players. Bower has shown he can handle tough opponents like T.Cloke whilst Waite will hopefully be given the CHF of the opposition teams - IMO he should be played at CHB, he offers great run and can really straighten us up. He has played as loose man often but needs work on his 1 on 1 defensive skills. Those 3 are the cornerstones of our defence for years to come. Then we have Browne, Thornton and Grigg/Scotland to round out the defensive 6.

Sydney and Geelong have had great success by allowing their back 6 to settle and play together/ for one and another. This is what we should do!

Also you are spot on with playing Fev up the ground. Houla, Fish, betts, big K and Walker makes for a super dangerous forward line - with Fev playing CHF he will kick goals no matter what - 55, 60+ he can get sausages. Kreuzer and Fish can take a good grab, so can Tex - but if the ball spills from Fish and Kreuz there are houla, betts and tex to get the crumbs. That makes us very dangerous.

Another question.

How many on TC have actually played footy at AFL level?

Cos I haven't. But those on the MC have (all of em) & I would be pretty confident in backing their judgement as to what is required.

Who are you going to take advice from? A real lawyer (for instance) or some bloke standing next to you at the bbq giving you his 2 cents worth?

Waite is the only real option for Brown, unless you're going to try Cloke on him.

Body strength counts for everything. Brown will just hold Austin or Bower off until the ball is within 5m then push off them to mark.

No team or backman in the league should play Brown in a body on body duel.

That's a sure way to be smashed!!!

Waite should be told to close him down with his agility, speed and leap and run off him.

If Brown gets the service on a platter like the last gabba match it wouldnt matter who played on him.

Jamo should get Bradshaw, he thrashed him last match.

..brown's a monster, you need to double team at the very least.. ..but, the player that goes to help out needs gonads the size of a mac truck, cos the best way to stop brown is to get in his way.. ..he'll crunch you well and good, but he won't take the mark..

As for people bagging Thornton, this is unbelievable. Now that we have some young developing backs people seem to forget that 3 years ago Thornton battled his arse off in defence for us with no help what so ever, and now cos he has had a couple of bad games he is getting bagged and people wanting him dropped.

All those AIsake lovers should just chill out. I would love to see the kid succeed because i love Carlos and if he is anything like him i will be happy. But with all the reports on him which clearly state he struggles to get a game in the Bullants seniors and when he plays reserves he doesnt even dominate, why the hell should he get picked. This is not country footy, players need to earn a spot.
As for this week i like the ins. Houlihan as a crumbing forward and i love Bower he is going to be a gun. As for Austin i love him too and i reckon he is set for a big 2009.

Anyway enuf from me, hope we go well this week. Enjoy your weekend guys.

Looking forward to seeing who little Browne Dog smacks into this week. I'm loving his attack at the moment, doesn't shirk the contest and is collecting a few opposition players.
