I keep hearing the footy media (Caro) talking up the young Tigers defense. I must admit I have not seen them play much this year.

How good is their young backline? Is it better than ours?

Jamison, Bower, Austin (you can throw in Waite, Thornton and Setanta too I suppose)

Vs.

Thursfield, Moore, McGuane

They have some handy types down back with Thursfield and Moore. I think Thursfield is a Fullback where as T-bird, Austin. Waite and Bower are not fullbacks. Jammo could possibe hold down full back along with Setanta

They are unfashionable players who are currently hitting above their weight. Will get shown up in the long run, as most Richmond promising prospects do...

My Richmond supporter mate waxed on lyrical about the tigers defence the other day. I'm pretty sure their defenders Moore, Thurstfield and Maguane have all been in the system loner than Bower, Jamsion, Austin and Browne. Then you can compare Waite V Bowden. Bowden is 300 years old and Waite is 25. Our backs look to have a much better future than the Tigers. Our backs are more attacking and whilst theirs defend ok I have not seen them launcing many attacks like Thornton, Jamison, Bower and Waite can. They rely more on Bowden and Newman for that.

I actaully feel sorry for Richmond supporters, they are so excited about their progress this year but can't seem to grasp the fact that's it's all their fossils that have got them over the line this year. They'll get a rude reality check in 2009 me thinks.

I generally like Caro's articles but when it comes to the nuts and bolts of footy, she knows jack shit.

Moore is a good footballer and like his namesake from years ago will have a fine career. Thursfield ...jury still out IMHO...
