He wasn't when he got dropped.

He is now. Would be pretty silly picking him to play on Brown like you want.

You missed the point. It was poor planning (did they have an alternative, Saddington?), and like Setanta or not, when dropped, he was an integral part of our team.

Why are you stressing about O'hAilpin not playing when he can't play because he is injured?

Who said he was injured?

You don't read much.

What? The club said he was injured?? You believe that??

The Club? It's a bit hard for a club to say something. I read Ratten talking about O'hAilpin's injury. I'd believe him before your make believe any day of the week.

Who knows what the hell's wrong with Setanta ..I don't!

I sure as hell don't take what comes out of the club as gospel that's for sure!

Why do you think he isn't injured?

Come on Brett. You can select better and Coach better. You are a great motivator and man manager......next season show us you can increase skill levels and improve your match day tactics. Your direct opponents are outhinking you tactically, especially with your one dimensional forward line. Lift your game.

Were there any match day tactics in particular you'd like him to increase his skill levels on? Or just the fact we lost?

The set ups at the center bounces for one example. Laidley had his guys (Wells, Boomer, etc.) lining up behind their ruckman and rushing through the middle with the bounce of the ball. Our guys who were marking them (mostly Arnfield & Grigg) then were caught chasing tail as they streamed through and collected the ball from their rovers or the loose ball in the contest. The area behind our ruckman at the bounce was totally unprotected and they went through unimpeded. This happened for the whole game and Ratts could not work this out.

Then we had plan B - Saddington forward in the third term (yep that worked  ) and Waite up forward in the last when all was lost.

Slow, unimaginative and inflexible. The most important match-up that we lost today was that of the coaches. Laidley creamed Ratts.

Maybe he will learn and get better with experience.....maybe he will not. But please call a spade a spade!!

Some here would have you think Ratts had no idea this was going on.

Unfortunately it's a personnell problem. Could we have rectified it in the last draft? Doubtful.

The mercurial forward was involved in an incident that saw Leigh Harding kick a goal after receiving two 50m penalties just before half-time, but Ratten said Shaun Grigg had been responsible for one penalty and felt it was just a misunderstanding rather than an act of ill-discipline on Fevola's behalf for the other.

3AW were right afterall.

You can't flat out say we shouldn't trade our first pick this year because you don't yet know what is on offer, but I hope we keep our first pick for a talented youngster instead of pissing the pick off for Kerr. Another player with leadership qualities and talent like Ziebell or Hurley would be most welcome. Let's hope on top of that all of the promising youngsters like Walker are retained.

Walker has been good after being out for so long.

Loved Ratts as a player.Think he has done ok in his first year as coach...................BUT..................is he dumb ? ...................OR...................is he a slow learner ?
i'll say it again,in footy circles its a well known fact how to beat the Blues. Its the basketball thing. The half court press,or in simple terms, flood the guts.Sydney did it,Crows did it,and the Roos did it.Everyone can make a mistake or two,but this bloke keeps knocking his head against the same wall over and over.Hes either dumb,or a slow learner.Which brings us to the other cohorts in the box.Namely Bomber Reilly.Great bloke for sure, but a Neale Daniher sidekick which is a HUGE concern.

Mickey always calls it as he see's it.No apolagies.

You want to make some money? Pass on this sensational underground information to Collingwood, Port, Footscray, Richmond, West Coast, Fremantle and Melbourne.

You will be a millionaire.

i don't think there'd be anyone else that would have been able to get our group of players playing for the coach as much as ratts. i think he has completely changed the attitudes of our players, he has their respect, he has them trying as hard as they possibly can. i think ratts has done a good a job at motivating our players as anyone could have. he has taught the players what carlton is all about and he expects nothing less. i love how he shows faith and how he keeps his cool. but i've always had a slight concern on how he goes tactically, he was badly outcoached today and has been a few times now this season. i think he is learning along with our players and will get better with time and i really hope he can improve in terms of tactics a whole lot more. if he can, he will be a premiership coach at this club.

Yes and it is not only the first pick that is at stake. We should be attempting to get at least three players that will have a real impact on our future prospects. If we come out of it with one aging champion and 2-3 second/third stringers then I think we are doing ourselves a disservice.

lucablue wants me to say what he is thinking buit doesnt have the balls to say???

Look its evident... Ratts coaching is out there...

Like Mickstar says.... all you have to do is the half court press or a flood and were gone...

But anyway... we are better than last year.. so its ok...

Next year..... next year.....

Saddo needs an opportunity to cement his place in the side... going forwards...

In 1993, everyone knew that if you put Williams off his game you beat Carlton.
