David Schwartz thinks a situation where Gibson has his arms around Fev is a 50-50 decision for the umpire.

It's not a 50-50 decision.

Its a free kick.

Yeah, and even he gets that blasting the umpire's isn't going to change the situation in your favour.

If even someone like Schwarz "gets it", how ignorant does that make those that don't?

The reason the umpires get away with being so crap is because so many plebs share the same brain cell as David Schwarz.

Umpires must love umpiring carlton games. First all you do is pay a dodgy one against fev. Let him call you a c%&t. From there all you have to do is not pay him any frees as you have a ready made excuse that everyone agrees is fair. Throw out the rule book and just ignore all contests inside Carltons fifty. Easy job.

Not if you reside in David Schwartz land.

David Schwarz Land. Population: David Schwarz and all his (imaginary) mates.

TBB, free kick or no free kick, play the game for goodness sake. Yep it may be frustrating, but instead of standing there like a big baby and not chasing and not concentrating, go back and start again. Winging and carrying on is not going to change anyones decisions.

We all understand that arguing with the umpires isn't going to help in a 50-50 decision, but when its not a 50-50 decision its irrelevant.

If they paid obvious free kicks from the start of the game Fev wouldn't be arguing with them. It's frustrating for us at home, so how can you blame Fev for being frustrated as well?

I don't blame Fev for getting frustrated at all.

I do blame him for not being able to keep his trap shut.

Us losing the plot at home, or in the crowd, doesn't affect the game at all.

Fev's actions make him less likely to get a free the next time.

Yet another year without a finals appearance.

North know how to really put the boot into Carlton. They have been doing it for years. There is no team I would like Carlton to beat more than North.

Oh well, let's hope for some momentum for next year at least. Richmond played well today.

Can Russell be dropped? or is he still an untouchable?

in one way i am glad north melbourne exposed the weaknesses we have..north's talls absolutely smashed us...north decimated us in the clearances...it was tragic. :x

He's still being selected by the MC, that doesn't mean he's untouchable.

Blaming umpires is hiding from the truth.

Blaming players is hiding from the truth.

North were simply to street smart and advanced in most aspects for us.

Team selection is the big worry!

Them North blokes have big muscles. We need our kids to get big muscles like them.

Love it if we could sign some tanks during the off season.

Mjonc was right on the money at the start of this thread.

North are a top 4 side, and as was said during the game are virtually the second side behind Geelong at this point in time.

We have been bottom two for the past three years.

Maybe so, but they took away any momentum we had in the first and then broke our backs in the second. After that, we were completely rattled. We are too young and inexperienced to overcome that!

Also, if Saddington ever wears the navy blue again rather than the bullants red, I will see red! I would rather have kept Digby Morrell!

Yep, the discussion about Fev really does hide some of the other issues that came out of the game.

We got smashed out of the middle and are still heavily reliant on Judd winning clearances from there, We fail to stand side by side with our opponants, dont' chase hard enough when they get possession or tackle well enough when the ball is in tight.

Hopefully that part of our game is still to develop as Murphy, Gibbs, Grigg etc mature.

I don't think tall defenders is a huge issue. Anytime the ball comes down that often and with such little pressure you're defenders are going to struggle.

Smashed in the middle, forward line and defence and smashed in the coaches box.

Frustrating when I thought we promised so much in the first qtr.

God I hate to the Roos.

God I hate Harvey.

God I hate Grant.

God I hate Firrito.

With Austin and Bower in the wings I agree with you.

The reason we lost was because we were smashed in the clearances and at times too Fev concious

I also think North's height with Hale and Petrie was always going to worry us. If he was fit I think Setanta would be getting a game ahead of Saddo now.

Smashed at the clearances and with getting our hands on the ball first we couldnt get it inside fifty quickly.

A few of our boys didnt really come to play and at times looked a bit shy.
Simpson, Walker, Russell, Stevens, Gibbs, Judd and Jamo all didnt have good games. The fumbles started and from there we were forced to play the chip game and they were too big bodied, strong and smart to let us get away with that.

We will mature into a very good side. Until then it will be a bit of a rollercoaster.

Can someone for the life of me tell me why Jason Saddington played ahead of 1) Paul Bower or 2) Mark Austin. Saddington used to be a reasonable player but is finished. He played like a pregnant woman today. Simple. We missed Eddie Betts today, had no alternative avenues to goal. Also, how does Adam Bentick not get a game. Surely, surely, he is better than Stephen Browne and Jordan Russell. Bentick gets absolutely crucified by the match committee and I think he will leave in search of opportunity, and I cant blame him.

The umpring was one of many reasons we lost today. We were outclassed, outmuscled and most definitely outcoached. We couldn't kick, we couldn't mark, we can't spoil and we most certainly couldn't tackle. Seeing blokes like Hale run circles around guys half his size was astonishing or how EVERY kick of ours went to a 2-on-1.

MASSIVE reality check today, and definitely some futures decided. I hope the team has a good hard look at themselves if they want to reach that level, and that Ratts learns a lot too.
