They don't show any live games a week.

Everything on delay to capitalise on sponsors spending their ad dollars on Better Homes and Garden and whatever other crap they have on Sunday afternoon.

Not sure why some are unhappy with this. Carlton are live on television, fanbloodytastic!!! :-D

I wish all games were live. If local football don't like it then they should invent new ways of enticing people to attend. Innovation at grass roots is required rather than relying on the AFL for hand outs.

Live in Vic.

Not on FTA anywhere else.

Previously it was going to be live across Australia.

Where's the benefit? If anything we lose, because the gate takings will be smaller as some won't go, preferring to watch on TV.

The toffs (excuse me if I am talking about anyone here) in the medallion club won't go but the die hard blue fans will.

And the viewing across Australia will be way down, due to the match not being on FTA.

And more directly - it would be a good advert to show off how well the club who is playing UP HERE here next week is going. Help the Lions.... The same Lions who have poor crowds this year and had a crap turnout last year in a game against us where we got flogged.

And that's the biggest piece of it that I don't understand.....

Why this can't be on HD, like the F1 is with 10, I don't understand....
That way - everyone wins, and people MIGHT just start seeing the sense in going digital!

This is a stupid, stupid decision by people far too short sighted to be involved with making decisions about this game. (and apparently by people who paid $580 Million for the ratings of one state!)

Keep waiting. The 'best fit' policy has already been scrapped.

If you don't live in Melbourne and you want to watch Carlton you really have no choice but to get Foxtel.

Hey verbs,

Do you know of many clubs/pubs that have 518?

I watch the Fox games at the Broncos; they don't seem to have 518 though?

They should have it...I asked a pub to tune into 518 last year and they did for me. Just had a chat to the duty manager and he sorted it for me.

I don't know how 518 works if you don't get all the channels but I assume most pubs could get it when the footy is on.

if its foxtel digital they will have 518

518 is the main event channel (Pay per view)

Fox use it as an overlfow channel so they will have access to it at no extra cost

Thanks for that verbs.

I did ask at the Broncos once before without success.

Will ask again tomorrow night when I head out for my carpet bowls showdown.

It's live on FTA in South Australian, and Tasmania as well.

I think KK was referring to the states that matter.

They may not have it as part of their business package, but I would find that surprising. Main Event tells you you're not subscribed when you select it, which may be what happened last time they tried for you, and probably will happen again tonight if that is the case. The footy will be on it for free though when the game is actully on.

Hey Bluedog,

I forget where you live... but I know the Regatta put a game on Main Event on for me once a few years back. I think Verbs has also previously said that the Pineapple is good. The main key is to hope that the game doesn't clash with a Broncos match... if it doesn't then I'd be surprised if a nice request won't do the trick wherever you go. Just make sure they have plenty of tvs so that if one is focused on AFL it doesn't mean the majority of punters are missing watching the boneheads in the NRL!

How many Blues legends come from Queensland?

It's well know all the Blues greats that have come from South Australia.

Tasmania has given us Percy Jones, and WIGGINS among others.

But hey you've got David Walls to hang your hat on.

As I'll be in Byron Bay on Sunday, can someone tell me if there will be a telecast of the game if Ch 518 is available? I would appreciate any info..... :)
