Oh yeah, and when he was leaving Sydney he was a bee's dick away from signing with Carlton - North snatched him at the last second.

Grant is also a mate of my cousins and all the stories they tell of him he sounds like a brilliant bloke.

Laidley is a survivor...thought both he and Nth would be be rock bottom with Laidley gone and Nth Melb working on their tans up in Qld however they keep hanging on with what looks like a joe average list.

They have a good record vs us and its about matching their work rate...we have more talent IMO but they scrap and work hard like their life depends on it and we need to match that intensity...if we do that we can win. As good teams like the Hawks and Bulldogs have found out if you just roll up and think talent alone will win you the game then think again.

I'd like to see Shaun Grigg on Grant and players like Thomas, Campbell and Corey Jones given the respect they deserve.
Think Fev can kick a bag vs what is a no name defense.....

forward line should consist of:
Fev, Betts, Walker, Russ, Wiggins and the resting ruck(s) depending on rotations. Im not putting them into HF and FF lines, partly coz i cant be stuffed and partly coz they dont play to the traditional set up anyway.

Kruez offers more than fish up forward as he can kick a goal and his 3rd and 4th efforts are fantastic.

Fish tries hard but lacks more than just a bad kick imo...great mark but it just about stops there. consistently puts in more than 1 effort but nearly always seems to be to no avail.

ALSO! a note to our forwards...if you mark the footy on the boundary look inboard for another option. this type of play should be a main focus in training, far too often we are spraying shots which seem to be taken more in hope than confidence...apart from fev...thats definite confidence! but not right by the team.

last thing to forwards, when you mark the ball do NOT turn your back on the play!!!!!!!!!!

if you look at Geelong...well they are geelong...but you rarely see their forwards taking set shots from the boundary, if they do take one, it wont be before trying to find another option in the corridor/better position.

For those of you bagging Shannon Grant, you really shouldn't post innuendo without any foundation. Shannon is a ripper guy and he would be the most popular guy at any footy club. He is prone to have a drink, but a tosser he is not.

This is a real danger game for us - we are coming off a game where the opposition were absolute rabble and we should have "pantsed" them by around 100 points - up against a side with a very solid work ethic.

If we get ahead and too pleased with ourselves in anyway this week we will be looking at a 6 to 8 goal loss very very easily against this lot.

I would like to beat North more than anybody on this board - I hate North,,,,, a lot.

But we really have to apply ourselves because it will not come as easily for us as it did last Saturday.

Very true.
Time and again we take very low percentage shots, and Fev is as guilty as anyone.
He took one from the boundary V Port when he had Wiggins unmarked in the square and either didn't look or wanted to kick the goal himself.
On the other hand Wiggins, Gibbs and Russell all tried to give the ball off against Adelaide rather than nail the goal.
That area of our game needs plenty of work.

One thing I noticed watching the replay of our game last night Agro, was that the boys weren't delusional about their perfromance.

There was no high fiving and getting carried away - even the song was pretty tame.

And based on Tex's comments after the game, I would say the coaching panel has reinforced to them that the team they just played, wasn't being overly competitive and that next week would be a different story.

Unbelievably hard game to win. Saw North last week and they would be the second best side in the comp on current form. If there was a game that we were going to lose by 7 plus goals it will be this one. Petrie playing out of his socks. Dominant ruckman and just hard onballers. Thomas and Campbell are hard to cover........Win this we deserve to be in the eight. Competitive performance would be a reflection of things to come. Don't be suprised if north are there on grand final day
