Bulldogs = Weak as boarding-house soup.

North are a decent side when up, but we can definitely knock them off.

- Browne (really like the kid but he has plenty of time on his side)

Yep, agree.

Saddo was a "stop-gap" for when Bower was ready - he should be right this week. He did look very vulnerable one on one y'day and he'd need to be seriously better to keep Bower out.

Saddo not suited to the Kangas forward line where they have pacy crumbers buzzing all over the place. Bower just the man for this week.

Hadley would have to be a few weeks away as was out for 10 or so weeks - our midfield doing too well for him to just waltz back in again.

Russell and Fisher have played most of the season and haven't been dropped once, Russell missed the first game.

It seems the MC value them more than most of us and it would be a huge shock if either were omitted.

Fishers workrate is so so good yet his kicking is absolutely shithouse...

Double edged sword.

A premiership player requires efficiency in both areas.

Bower might still be underdone though .. but definately bring Eddie Betts back in against the roos. FFS, leave Hampson in there, he did alright against the power I thought

Sounds like Laidley might bring McIntosh straight back from injury:

http://afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tabi ... wsId=65215

Quote:
Meanwhile, Laidley said skipper Adam Simpson (hip), who was a late withdrawal against the Dogs, and ruckman Hamish McIntosh (knee), who has been sidelined for the past seven rounds, are set to return for next Sunday's clash against Carlton at Telstra Dome.

"We'll get our captain back next week, so that's going to be a huge improvement for us and I'd say Hamish McIntosh, I'd just about bring him straight back in next week," he said.

"He's been training really well and he can play second fiddle to [Drew] Petrie and [David] Hale."

I think he must be crazy to consider bringing someone straight back after a long layoff with a knee injury.
Sounds like Nathan Thompson might be in some doubt...

The real question is why do they play above their ability?

Better team spirit?

Better group cohesion?

Fighting spirit?

Not sure what it is, but if we can beat North it will be the BEST win of the season - without a doubt.

They have humiliated Carlton over the last 5-6 years more than any other team. Control Harvey - maybe Walker can run with him - and it will help a lot.

Amen. His jump is sensational and his tap is going to be. It gives Cloke a rest and Kreuze the abilty to play forward. Big plus for us - in this example he is worth 3 players to us. Forget his kicking - that will come with experience. Just give him the experience.

i don't normally say things sort of thing, but because he was shite thats why.

white kicked 3 on him and westoff one.

Agree..he is a dud.....Port couldnt get it down there enough but everytime they did he was a liability...Setanta is way better value.

re: Hampson... like him in the team and he give us the option of playing Kruezer down forward more whcih would worry Nth who lack real tall defenders...

Should really be:

In: Betts, Austin

Out: Saddington, Fisher.

Need the run against North at TD. Browne will be needed to play against Thomas etc.

Ratts said Austin went back to Ants for a run and didn't want to put to much pressure on him. Would expect him to be back this week.

Would like Houlihan, Bower & Hadley in but they must be short of a run. Pfieffer maybe?

Hampson must stay, makes a difference.

PS McKinley doing well for WCE.

I would think there would be greater pressure this week than yesterday.

He meant the pressure of playing week in week out!

Betts and Bower
OUT:
Russell and Saddo

Pfieffer unlucky but not right game.
Russell out for Betts, play similar roles even though the size difference, Betts better kick at goal. Can't see who else to omit and Betts is needed.
Bower needs to be put back in and Saddo is not going to bearound next season, Port kicked 9 goals 4 or 5 were from Saddo's opponents, won't be a big loss.
Also North have a rather small forward line and kick majority of their scores through the crumbers in Harvey, Grant, Campbell and Thomas.
Jamo, Thornton and Bower can cover the bigger blokes and resting rucks. Browne, Army, Carrots, Grigg and Scotland need to be on the ball from the get go.
Waite should be able to have a licence to venture forward and back.
(Can't see Russell getting dropped but thats my thoughts)

Hammer got eight or nine hitouts last night so let's not get carried away with his efforts in the ruck but he does have to stay in the team IMO.
Eddie will come back so someone has to miss out. Probably Saddo or Armfield.

cannot be armfiled - either russell or saddington.
i liked the look of mapson in the ruck allowing cloke to drift forward.

fisher might be lucky again.

reckon hadley might have to wait another week but i'd like to see pfeiffer in for russell.

North this week are playing two talls in their forward line, Thompson and Jones with Hale rucking and pinch hitting forward.
Petrie has been rucking since McIntosh went down but can also drift forward.
So unless Brown plays V Carlton Jamison, Waite, Saddington and Thornton is too top heavy so it's Jamison, Thornton or Saddington out.

you cannot seriously bracket jamison with thornton or saddington as outs - saddington foir me, then thornton when bower is ready or austin neds to come back!!
