Just pondering, if I recall Ratts is only on a 1 year contract finishing at the end of the season? If this is the case might it perhaps explain some of the strange selections (Saddington anyone??) and the lack of time given to developing some of the young players (hampson.......) if he feels that he has to win more games to get a contract or improve his terms.

If this is the case I would like to see the club lock ratts up now so that he can focus on the long term rather than coaching for his contract........ PLAY HAMPSON!!!

Interesting thought, though I severely doubt Ratts is in any danger.

It's his first full year coaching - and the team has improved vastly on the Pagan era already.

Besides - I thought Ratts signed a 2 year deal ending next season?

As HTP said, Ratts was signed to a two year deal, so from about R12 next year we'll start hearing all about it.

But, when the team will be 9 and 3 we'll probably sign him up.

I remember Pratt saying there were KPIs in his contract.

I have a feeling if we don't win another game for the season it could be:

OUT: Ratten
IN: Buckley

We will win today so it won't happen.

Swan could easily convince Buckley to cross over to the good side.

More to the point, what are the contracts of Riley, Crosisca, Monty, Teague, Lappin?

Need to bring in some others especially a development specialist!

Thanks for clearing that up, must have had my wires crossed, but even so, as DIAMOTISM said if he has performance targets in his contract he could still be chasing wins for his own sake, its an interesting side to the process though.

Just because players aren't playing in the 1's, doesn't mean they're not developing.

Hammer's only very young and raw. His time will come.

He's a bluebagger through and through. Great coach and the players respond to him.

Ratts will coach the Blues till he feels he couldn't possibly stand yet another premiership.

Too hard on the liver.

Why would you even consider Buckley? Being a commentator doesnt give you good coaching skills.

I'll be very surprised if Buckley doesn't make a very good coach.

ditto - more wins in 32 rounds than Pagan had in 5 years

we don't need any more draft picks: it's working just fine with the players we have!

#17, and soon, please, Mr Ratten!

Looks like Ratts might be willing to make some additions/changes to the coaching panel...

Carlton coach Brett Ratten - whose playing style was similar to Harvey's and who played alongside him at junior state level - said he would love to get Harvey on the Blues' coaching panel.

"If you are looking for role models for younger players I think he is nearly the perfect person to look at," Ratten said.

"I'd love to maybe have a chat with Harvs and see what the future holds for him and what his interests are and how much he wants to commit to football."

why would you want to change the coach when our players are prepared to walk through fire for Ratts...

I think he has been fantastic thus far...
