my dad got me and my 2 brothers and 1 sister all to go for carlton. my mum too. if we didnt we were out the door. mum too.

soon as we were born we were blues. why would you go for any other team? my girlfriend and all my X's i made go for carlton. my son who is now 10 loves carlton. he was born blue to, no choice.

he did question a few years ago why we go for carlton. i gave him the carlton history book and he hasnt looked back. once again why would you go for ant other team.

carlton for life

Luckily I didn't follow in my father's Demon footsteps.

He tried to get me chanting "Go number 7!" for a while there but it just didn't really measure up to watching Jezza stand on heads.

Glad I learnt to ski though. :P

All family members bar my mum are Blues supporters [she barracks for the Scum].

5 nephews and 1 niece - ALL CARLTON.

The in-laws are all Filth supporters, so there appeard to be an attraction between Blues and Filth.

I remember in the days when the Scum would beat us by 1pt, she would always put one finger up [the index] and to indicate the 1pt when we came home from the game.

Suffice it to say, the index finger went up in '99.

I was born in Western General Hospital in Footscray. My mum was there in 1954 when the Dogs won their only flag, and my grandfather (God bless his soul) was President of West Footscray Footy Club.

I started following footy when I was five. They didn't get to me in time, and I chose the Blues.....only because i liked the jumper (saw it on a footy card on the back of a Cornflakes pack). Christ did I choose well ??

My youngest wanted to barrack for the Lions, as she liked their theme song and they were always winning flags. I said "that's fine, barrack for whoever you want........but I'm NEVER taking you to the footy unless its a Carlton game". Nuff said, and another Blue Bagger was indoctrinated.

You've gotta get in early and stand firm.

I have a 2 year old and 3 year old who both know and sing the blues song and wear their jumpers sreaming that they kick it like judd.

It's a hard battle to get them to understand how pathetic Collingwood are when both my parents and my inlaws are Collingwood fans, thankfully my better half has been a lifelong blues supporter like myself :-D

My daughter was giggling at the TV when I got home last night.
When I queried her, she pointed at the news and said, "Collingwood players are in trouble dad and aren't playing for the rest of the year" ... kept giggling and now shaking her head muttering Collingwood. 8)

Yep GOT THEM but I knew that.

My family is a basket case:

I go for the Blues
Dad goes for West Coast
Mum goes for St Kilda
Sister goes for Hawthorn
7 year old brother goes for Geelong. I cant indoctrinate his little mind either, i try, but he just wont go for carlton. I think it stems from his Blues Clues watching days back in 2004/2005, when he would always say "Blues Lose".

Any tips for mind control?

Electric shocks as aversion therapy.

Every time he barracks for Geelong, or against Carlton, make sure he's hooked up to one of those fun electric shocker games. When he cries, make sure he knows that you can make the pain go away, and it's really quite easy.

And a little bribery on top of that wouldn't hurt.

my brother sister and i were born in fitzroy so i was always pressured to follow the lions. my mum dad and brother followed fitzroy and stuck with brisbane over the years, but my sister and i followed in my uncles footsteps with the bluebaggers as he would take us to PP every home game when we were kids...

during the lion's glory years just passed, while carlton barely hung on at the bottom of the ladder, my parents hated seeing me upset when we lost and said 'just go for brisbane, at least we win flags'... the nerve....common sense prevailed and i count my lucky stars for that!
so much to look forward to now, cant wait for another flag!

Sometimes I wonder, if Collingwood had've been able to win a flag or two in the 70s or 80s, would my old man be a different bloke?.... and would I have been the one that Dids was pleading with to lie for him?

He always told me that he gave away footy because he got reported one time and, being the bloke he is, thought that he could do a better job of umpiring than 'those maggots'.

He loves it when the filth are up... I can't recall much of 1990 (not without prompting) but I know it was a pretty special year for him - and he swears that he won't be opening the Premiership Port until the next cup is safely in the trophy cabinet. He had it sitting in front of him in 2002 all ready to go, but to no avail... he didn't bother in 2003.

Well, it was the third time I have taken KP Jnr to game yesterday. He got to celebrate his first live win 8) by belting out the song at the ground and hanging the scarf out the window all the way home.

I wont be forgetting this game for a while.

Isn't that the same thing?

We're starting IVF soon and, regardless of whether it comes out male, female, or both, I want to be able to take them to the footy - and when I talk footy in this town, I'm talking the one and only match that I attend every two or three years ... now, they will have a choice as well, but that choice will not include the Swines, Filth, or Scum

You watch - they'll probably become Munters fans ...
