For a bloke that puts up with his arm being half way up a cow's minkya all day, that's pretty soft.

Quite bemusing that Milburn got a bigger reduction because of his 'good record'.

I guess my eyes deceived me, and that was actually Steven Browne who nearly took SOS's head off that day.

That was 7 years ago.

I watched a bit of Footy Confidential last night and found it bizarre in the extreme that

a) milburn gets four weeks for that tackle
and
yet
b) a port adelaide player (can't remember who it was) but he tackled Harvey (and Harvey was concussed) gets nothing. Exactly the same type of tackle. they repeated them back to back.

On that logic - I think Browne deserves a minimum sentence of 15 weeks for running close to porplyzia and defending himself. it is obvious to me he deliberately defended himself as well.

The tackle on Harvey was one fluid motion. Milburns was 2 and he had more than a chance to let go before slamming a guys head into the turf whos arms he had pinned.

Definitely. Ball flew out early, followed by deliberate 2nd effort to bury the guy.
What I can't work out is how a 4 week sentence can be reduced to 2 by a 25% reduction. ??

That's about where I'm at!

Its not even about it being a Carlton player, this is more about the people's game being kidnapped and destroyed by a bunch of incompetent, idiotic fools who have lost touch with the real world.

Its not just a 25% deduction. Thats the early guilty plea, then there's a good behaviour discount.

Good behaviour? Milburn? Well, there you go.

So if Browne had not braced himself but had instead copped the whole porpoise atomic head butt from hell into his chest, and Browne had been hurt, would the Porpoise have gotten weeks???

Browney has pleaded his case. Let's hope the tribunal take his comments on board and clear him. Putting him away for four weeks and ending his season wouldn't be fair.

Given he said he didn't see Porplyzia the only way he could've been suspended would be if the tribunal thought he was lying.

Highlights the glaring problem with the current system.

In a way the MRP's hands were tied.

If the field umpire had reported him the MRP, within the points classification structure, had to assign what they did to the incident, i dont think the MRP is allowed to be objective or utilise common sense - the incident must be rated within the guidelines.

It was up to the club to appeal and then it was up to the tribunal to judge on common sense.

Which is a complete waste of time , resources and money.

It shows the current MRP system is too rigid and inflexible and its another of Adrian Andersons useless contributions to the sport
