VERY Happy!

- No Pagan :-)
- CHRIS JUDD!
- Fevola might kick 100.
- No losses by more than 100 points.
- Bryce Gibbs emerging as elite.
- Kreuzer showing why he went 1.
- 2 AWESOME come from behind wins in Port & The Bulldogs.
- More than 5 wins for the first time in 3 years.
- Record Membership.
- 2 away wins in a season for the first time since 2001.

Looking at all those above.................... what the flower is there NOT to be happy about?

Sure, we should have won some games that we lost of our own boots, but just think how good the likes of Grigg / Bower & Armfield are gonna be next season with some games under their belts. VERY Excited about those 3 creating play out of the backline.

Great Season

Gee ryan, I know it's been a good season if you can list all that and you left off the TWO wins over Collingwood :-D

Also winning interstate twice which has given our interstate TCer's some pleasure (looking at you GRO)

Further to Ryan2000 comments:

- Jamison emerging into a quality defender and will get better with a full pre-season
- Eddie Betts improving significantly
- Very happy with the selection of Browne with pick #36...he will be a player.

Obviously the wins over Collingwood were very enjoyable as well.

I'm just happy that I'm angry when we lose. The last fwe years I have been secretly pleased when we have lost because it will give us a better draft pick. This year I'm filthy when we lose.

Anyone who is unhappy should have a look at their time capsule and what they expected for the year.

Not happy. Finals should have been a bare minimum based on where we were five weeks ago.

North are far better than us with less resources and AFL financial support.
Essendon* is going to run over the top of us. And that game against Adelaide- they should have another visit to the umpires department cause we were shafted.

Sorry, should be happy considering above points from other posters-but I cannot do it.

Yeh but how many developing kids are in North's team?
They are in a similar situation to what we were in 2001 IMO. ditto Sydney.

I think someone's being a little pessamistic.
I don't care if we make finals this year, who cares?! we would just get knocked out first game anyway. I'm just so happy that we are putting on some serious shows for the top 8 contenders.
The 2 point loss to Sydney or the 8 point loss to Adelaide. I watched the Collingwood/Hawthorn game on Friday night and I swear the Colliwobbles looked like we did a few years ago in that first quarter, no structure, bombing it into the forward 50 with no marking options, bombing it out after a rush behind with no marking options. It was just a terrible game to watch in general, littered with errors. That used to be us

Not anymore, we stand re-energised, re-built! All this season we have never been beaten to such an extent that there were no positives out of the game. Next season watch out, the ruthless Carlton will be back and gunning for a top 4 spot, or at least sitting comfortably in the 8.

It's all relevant, considering the last few years, I am very happy. I'm happy knowing this team will only improve greatly over the next 18 months and more. I love seeing players like Judd, Fev, Gibbs, Murph to name a few show class and skill that had been lost by a team which won 3 wooden spoons. We were an absolute laughing stock. A basket case. 100 point losses routine stuff for them. I cannot understand anyone who is unhappy this year. We've matched it against every team except Geelong and Hawthorn (which we haven't played). We'll likely recruit a player or keep our pick and add a good player. In 12 months time, if we're not making the finals, then I'd be unhappy.

I'm happy we're competive in every game we play. Bring on 2009.

Just re-read an article at lunctime (dated April 2006) by Graeme Blundell (Alvin Purple) in that $2 sports mag the Herald Sun puts out. Flower me - a mere 2 1/2 years ago we were absolutely flowered both on and off the field. There was a photo in the article must have been from the 05 season - from the pic only Walker is still at the club.

To put it midly I am flowering delighted where my club is at ATM.

(hopefully the cafe's food more current than their reading material otherwise this could be my last ever post!!)

Look overall I am happy without a doubt.

The pain of constant despair and the embarrasment of losing games by 100 points has been replaced by the pain of losing when you expect to win - its a different sort of pain - hopefully it motivates and drives this list to greater performance and expection for the remainder of 2008 and beyond.

Further I hope it drives the Board and Adminstration of this football club to engineer even greater resource and infrastructure improvements going forward.

StKilda mentality......

We have to be better!!!!

The comp is rat shyte and we should be taking advantage of it...

I ust be overestimating the ability of our players.......looking around me...

There is no time like the present time..... and to just waste the opportunity means we have to lay additional building blocks next year....

I truly believe the eight wins is great... on the surface,,,, but when you scratch the surface youll find a heap of shit clubs .....

.... making the finals in a year where alot of teams are on the slide down... and some like us are still in the hunt is a massive injection of confidence into the future....

If a team makes the finals this year there is nothing to say it cant walk away with at east one more win a FINALS win in this current climate of mediocrity.....
Which REALLY would put the cat in amongst the chickens for next year....
Bt in order for us to have won those games legitimately.... by that i mean cos we only win cos the opposition is shithouse... we have to have worked out playing patterns and structures...

I dont believe we have and were playing on natural ability alone.......

The comp was worse last year and we finished 15th why didn't we take advantage then

But I do think we could have won a couple more but hell at least we are a lot more competitive

So this would mean that the competition will be even worse next year.

Its been a saga that has run for a good 7 seasons - but this particular journey will end with a premiership cup - its just that no one really knows how many twists and turns there are in the road that has a flag at the end of it.

Im certainly happier at this point that I have been at any time previously - but I wont be truly satisfied until we have a 17th flag.

And then I will be happy for a fair while - but I think I might start to get irritated and upset - because 17 is such an odd number - and the AFL will probably have 18 teams by then too.
