Well we huffed and puffed, but when you have 1 forward, you're not going to blow the house down.

PROS

1. Fev - I thought he'd have a downer after signing his contract due to the hunger disappearing, but he was sublime. If only he had a partner in crime.

2. Simpson - most consistent player of the year by a mile

3. Walker - had a good game I thought

4. Kreuzer - he's gonna be special, but I just hope he doesn;t get worn out.

5. We played poorly and didn't lose by much - we're a good forward away from being very dangerous

Special mention - Waite, ripper game

CONS

1. For week 18 in a row, the lack of forward options - Waht I don;t like is that we haven;t developed any forward player OR structure this year. Look at Adelaide - no big name forward but they had a structure that stretched us. Why can;t we do that? Because Craig is a bit smarter than Ratts probably.

2. Kickouts - another situation of Craig > Ratts. Fair dinkum the long bomb to 45 degress - Are you kidding me?

3. First option - too many players thought twice today instead of taking the first option (Murph was one) and this hurt us.

4. Some of Stevo's lazy handballs tainted a decent game from him.

5. Betts being out in the last quarter hurt us cos he does spark stuff

We're moving forward but we've got some big holes to fill.

Thought i'd get the ball rolling...

PROS

Scotland in great form
Jamo early
Fev was ok
Armfield tried to take the game on
Carrazzo back in touch
Stevo
Walker important, will only get better
Jack Ziebell sounds good.....

CONS

Murphy - looked a very ordinary player
Judd - Shirley has his measure and kicked 2 goals
Betts - ineffective early then injured
Fisher Wiggins Russell all quiet after bright starts -
Our form is ordinary - tough, accountable team made it hard, we weren't good enough. Dogs win was fools gold - they were incredibly loose last week. It's all about next year from here

Yep, did Wiggins, Russell or Fisher get a touch in the last quarter (not that I am necessarily blaming them)???

Cons:should have beaten them

PROS

Gibbs - the smothering king
Wiggo - finally believing in himself as a footballer
Simmo - our guaranteed four-quarter player
The tackling much better than has been for ages
Eddie Betts - unfortunately injured but having Mcleod marking him in the BP is a real indication of the threat he poses to other teams.

CONS

Fricking umpire going down and taking Fev's legs out from him cost us a pretty certain goal

Poor disposal again.

Seeing Massie playing for the Crows still hurts.

Not taking our chances in the last quarter - ie Scotland blazing wide from 50 instead of passing, Wiggins running into open goal and deciding to centre it instead etc. We should have run all over them.

Cons:

- Plenty of meat on special at Princes Park Monday.
- Jamo had a shocker
- Nothing across half forward.
- Our middle quarters again are poor. I still think we try to conserve energy for the last quarter.

Pros:

- Carrots was nearly immaculate. Great game, clean hands, strong.
- Simmo never stopped running.
- Stevo was good.
- Fev 5 goals was solid.
- Walker and Waite solid.

We aren't far off, just improve our skills and we win another 3 or 4 games this season.

great endeavour by simmo but 52% efficiency is not good enough

on the other end of the scale carrots had 33 disposals for 88% efficiency...now that is SUBLIME.

Pros.

Gibbs - his giving away free kicks by going in hard and showing some mongrel is just what I wanted to see.

Russell's first quarter - clean hands below his knees, quick handpasses and going in very hard was great to see. Has the talent to make it, but just needs the confidence and more development.

Cons.

Murphy - poor disposal and decision making.
Cloke .
Carrazzo - Played a good game? I don't care what the stats say, he's the butcher of Carlton when he gets the ball.
Browne - still adjusting to the pace of footy and looked like he didn't belong.
Armfield's selection - straight in for Hartlett after returning from injury. Bizarre when he's a first year player and isn't a gun.
Betts.

not sure how they rate efficiency

88%

so many of his kicks are floaters that put his team mates under pressure and he likes to loop his handballs too.

he was pretty good today but i think he may owe someone some money for that rating.

that or his team mates for being good enough to gather his kicks

PROS

Simpson's stamina, pace and 4 Q's
Carrazzo's 4 Q effort, strength, evasive skill and no clangers
Waite 4 Q effort battled for everything. Stopped critical entries forward by Crows
Jamison is a gun
Wiggo, Russell, Fisher's 1st Q
Kreuzer was fantastic
TV Commentator thought No 14 (umpire) was good for the Crows
FevolWalker's pace is handy
Stevo was good

CONS

Kreuzer missed his first shot
We lost the game
Umpires made sure we didn't make the finals (disgrace)
Umpire No 14 gave Crows 19 players on the field.
I guess the finals window has closed (maybe)
Murphy's disposal
Gibbs didn't chase hard enough in the last (unless he was spent)
Walker's reckless kicking (accuracy and just blazing away)
Ball handling and Clagers
Browne
Thornton
Cloke (is not a ruckman and not a running player of the modern game)
Critical errors from seniors cost us (Scotto, Stevo)

PROS

1st qtr looked pretty good.
Gibbs - poise and skill
Simpson - was awesome
Waite - wish we had two of him
Browne - thought he showed some improvement
Austin - shows signs and will only better
Carrazzo - has to play on ball not defence
Pushed a side that plays ugly at their home and is tough and hard
Lot to like going fwd

CONS

We Lost
Stevens handballing
Russell looks great for 20 minutes very week then goes missing
Turnovers & skill errors
Ability to play 4 qtrs yet
Ruck
Lack of small fwds and fwd options
thought we missed the big option in defence (Setanta?)

I reckon Stevens is one of our best handballers. He did some beuties today....but then he handballed to the Crows which resulted in a goal.

Don't be so harsh on his handball...have a look at the tape again and compare Stevens with most other Carlton players.

Handball in general was pathetic today.

Pros:
Not a big fan of Carrots but I thought he was brilliant today - his disposal was first rate
Gibbs efforts, skill and decision making.
1st quarter performance of Russell and Wiggins

Cons:
Fisher gives us nothing as per usual. How he got a 2 year contract is a mystery
Although I thought simpson was good he butchered the ball in the first half
Wiggins and Russell were hardly sighted in the 2nd half
Scotlands disposal and mistakes in the 2nd half were horrific
