Wiggins gets a lot of attention on TC.

I'm sure that we can all agree that in the past the majority of it wasn't postitive, but this year Wiggins has provided something extra in the games he's played that could be giving posters a second opinion.

After giving stick to Pagan for playing his 'love-child' so often, it looks like we have another Wiggins-admirer in Ratten. Amongst all the Wiggins comments and in-jokes on TC, I believe there are more people here appreciating his efforts on the football field.

While the Wiggler isn't no Chris Judd, he throws 100% into his game and nobody can dispute that Simon Wiggins bleeds Navy Blue.

Would this be enough to re-sign the Wiggler after his contract expires at the end of the year?

(1-2 year contract for mine)

I voted yes, because as you say Sparky, every team needs a Wiggler and no one does it better than Our Wiggler.

Noticed the way I didn't ignore your post Sparky, like others do. :-D

i love wiggins and have great respect for the way he goes about his footy but i think we need to look to the future and build for our next premiership. he's played 100 games for us now and done his best for us but i think we should look to develop our youth who do have a chance to play in our next premiership. i'd like to see him stay involved with the bullants or something to help out teaguey and lappin with our younger players.

Yes.

He's still a depth player next year, even if he doesn't play many games for Carlton. We can't have kids kids kids all the time. 1 year with the option for a second for mine.

I voted yes, I would give him another year, I think there are a couple in front of Wiggo to delist but maybe not the year after.

His attitude and work ethic are very valuable to our young brigade and I would also like to see him involved in a few more wins.

Well so said Ratten in a press conference during the week.

Come on blues sign him up. He will be cheap and is excellent for our depth. He works hard off the field and works hard on the field. Has speed and loves a good hip and shoulder and to tackle.

Sign him :-D

Apologies all, the merge function has gone funny on this thread.

Need the admins to take a look at it.

Well done to Wiggo

My thoughts all along have been that Ratts and the MC would give Wiggo every opportunity to reach the 100 game milestone because he's a well liked player around the club, a hard worker, and when injuries accumulate, a player with a hard body to compete in AFL.

I always thought Prendergast had more to offer than Wiggo and look where he's at. So realistically, he's not a long term prospect, and never has been, but the issue to retain him or not will depend on who we have to delist before the draft and how many we new kids we want to punt on in this the last draft before the new teams have open slather at the youth of Australia for the next couple of years, and maybe couple after that.

Yeah he's a good depth player, but I reckon next year when the kids have completed another preseason they will pass him, or another way of looking at it, he takes a development position from one of theose kids with more upside.

I didn't see a poll to cast a vote, but my gut feeling all along has been that 6-7 will be dropped from the list in 2008:

1. Ackland
2. Saddington
3. Aisake (spewing)
4. Cloke (if we pick up a 200cm ready made and promote Jacobs/ keep Aisake)
5. Jackson
6. Blackwell
7. Wiggins (may be saved from a trade for pick or 2...Russell to Port??)

If we keep Cloke, well I would say its bye bye, unless Benjamin, Edwards and Bentick are in the line of fire.

Yeah we really should sign in and throw in the sponsor's car to sweeten the deal. We are so blessed with goal kicking options at the moment that we can afford to have Wiggo and Russell playing up forward without troubling the scoreboard. Let's set him a benchmark of 10 ten goals a season. That will be enough to secure us finals action.

If we were to delist him this season which club do you believe would be interested in him?

Pavlich would be a little worried about his own role in the side if this happened.

Says thanks for your service at the end of the year and give him a nice earner as captain of the Bullants.
