@#$%&! calling for Russell's head, drop Stevo.

Make him face the mirror and decide

football with us

or VFL until he retires.

Ask him Carlton, ask him 'cos at the moment if we want to save the things he can give us, we have to push hard and see how bad he wants it.

Stevo has proven himself.

Russel hasn't.

44 games for Russell mate. His highlight reel goes for about 30 seconds.

Stevo's highlight reel lasts longer than Ben Hur.

Stevo has spent an entire year off from a near career-ending injury. He needs to lift his game, I agree - especially when you compare his current form to what he is capable of.

But don't mention him and Russell in the same sentence.

Read the player criticism thread. Hack? Why is he a hack?

He didn't show much today, but so what he had another 5-6 buddies who continue to get chosen for doing nothing each week. We have 6 games of development left, lets see what he can do.

As for Stevens, we need to do a St Kilda and make a statement instead of rewarding poor efforts. Whether Stevo is the one, who knows but someone has to go from our underperforming established players.

FFS - watch the replay fellas...then if you still don't get it - go out and get a coaching qualification...then - if you're still going to have a go at Stevo because you think he should be getting 30+ possessions a game - try blaming Ratts - because he's the one who took him away from the action - on purpose at an early stage.

It was only a few weeks ago that he just about won a game for us singlehandedly so I hope you're joking.
Our biggest worry at the moment is the form of some of our other more senior players.
Wiggins and Fisher were both ineffectual today, Bentick was shocking, Carrazzo isn't playing anywhere near the level of his B & F and Thornton's form has tapered off badly.
About the only of these middle tier players playing consistently good football are Scotland and Simpson.
The young blokes will be up and down but at the stage of development we're at we need consistent efforts from the players at or near 100 games.

The ducks were very good today in isolating our less accountable players. It's no surprise that Stevens and Scotland were both pushed right back into defence, and that McVeigh and Moore were able to kick goals.

I noticed he had his head slammed into the turf early in the game & when he did get up he was giving his neck a bit of a workout.

Bloody ridiculous.

Bad game ... yep.

Drop the player that's been a highlight of the season ... classic.

I agree. Judd was bloody useless today as well - I say give him one last chance or cut him loose from his (5 mil) contract at the end of the year... :)

no, its about thinking how good can stevo be, I think he could be an A grader

at the moment though he still isn't doing the things he needs to do consistently. I actually couldn't give a toss how many kicks he gets. In these games today its easy to get kicks. What today's game demands though is absolute commitment at each contest, whether it be chasing, tackling, marking, spoiling etc.

I don't care if a player gets beaten unless he gets beaten because he is not fully committed. I am also not interested in having a good side. I want to win a flag (or more) and to do that each player must be prepared to do the 1%. I do not think it will work if you have about 12 who do and then some who do not have to.

So again, not because I am angry with him, but because I want Stevo to take the next step, I would consider dropping him if I thought that kick up the backside might be just what he needed to work out the areas of his game that have grown slack.

Its not about hacks or scapegoats or who is better, it is about what each player needs. I wonder, does Stevo need to be dropped to understand he cannot accept (of himself) those efforts.

We do not lack the talent and we will get better, the question now is how much, and who comes along.

Fair enough and maybe you're taking a leaf out of the Saints playbook on that one but after the year he's had, he'd have to have alot of bad games before that would be an option. He's got a fair few credits in the bank.

he's not fit enough, but he had no pre-season. Players can get their fitness up but are at a big disadvantage to the rest of the guys who did a pre-season.
Hopefully Judd, Stevens and Walker are much improved next season.

why has he got credits? - surely it shouldn't be about what he can do, but improving on things the doesn't do well. We know what he does well and we know he is capable of doing the others thing, he just doesn't do them consistently - now I hope the staff are constantly in his ear telling him to push harder in these areas, so if he doesn't what as a club should we do?

a) accept he will never improve and not worry about it
or
b) demand that improvement.

if b) and I hope this is so

then would dropping help him achieve this?

If yes - then regardless of 'credits' drop him this year, now, and build for next year. If stevo could take the step up in those areas consistently @#$%&! we'd have an awesome midfield.

as it is now though, if a side can, they will drag him back and then go through his man.

Against the better sides, his man will hurt us.

Said this before in the players thread

Simply didnt put in 100% today Want proof

Why would you allow Ablett to stand infront of you at every and I mean every ballup.

Why do you give up chasing your opponent as he enters the forward 50 in the last quarter

If Stevens reckons he wont be dropped because he was a gun against Richmond whats that say about the club.

It says the club is as soft as Steven's efforts today

A club I loath StKilda did it to DelSanto

He looked himself in the mirror and has turned it around

The same thing must be done to Stevens

Then we will see if Stevo really does give a shit

He played in defence in the last quarter because Ablett killed him for 3 quarters because of a better attitude

Not good enough

you're useless if you going to make such statements at least back them up as to why they should be dropped

We didn't play that bad today. We went down fighting against a top 4 side

Ditto...Exactly, if you can't get a kick that doesn't mean you can let your opponent to run off and not chase. Improve you defensive game back in the 2's...
