Had a bit of a look at our goalkickers for each game this year. Some good and some bad news.

Image

The bad news is we only have 3 players at the moment who are capable of sustaining an average of more than one goal a game, the good news is we now have a much better spread of goals coming from the midfield (although it would be good to see more!).

Players like Stevens, Murphy, Judd and Gibbs have added an extra goalscoring dimension to our midfield this season.

The really exciting thing is to see players like Gibbs and Kruezer having games where they are kicking multiple goals (not once but multiple times in a season), always a good sign so early in their careers. Both of these boys can really develop into attacking weapons for our team.

Well done to Betts, multiple goalkicker in 7 games this year, a very good effort from limited opportunities.

Given the discussion at the moment about Fev's worth in our forward line I added a couple of coumns to the table above.

The first one is a scenario of no Fev and an output of 0% from all the forward 50's that normally would have gone Fev's way. This scenario is quite unrealistic and says that without any Fev influence we would have had 3 and half wins this year.

There is also the 'half a Fev' column. With this one you have to imagine that all the forward atttacks that normally went through Fev were distributed to other players in the team and they worked at 50% of the efficiency that Fev has. A more realistic scenario. With this scenario we still manage to win all 7 games we have already won this year.

This should give a bit of fodder to the debate surrounding how dependant we actually are on Fev. :)

I like your data on the players who have kicked two goals or more per match.

A few things leap out to me with this stat-

That Gibbs and Scotland have been good in this aspect considering they don't spend all their time in the forward line

and that

Wiggins has been pretty bad to only have one game where he has kicked 2 or more goals. One would expect more of a player who gets so much game time on the forward line.

Anyway, i guess they (match committee) know what they are doing.... :?

with a `kick-it-to-Fev' game plan...
