When I read Nathan Buckley's comments about Fevola not knowing Robert Harvey and so he shouldn't have hugged him, I was thinking if I had been good enough to be drafted when I was 17, and I was picked by St Kilda, and when I was 27 in a game against Carlton it would probably be the last time I'd ever see Silvagni running around in the opposition again, I certainly would give him a hug after the game to say thanks for the memories.

Buckley's head isn't screwed on right.

That's a bit rich coming from you.

Fev being the eternal optimist would have been thinking that Carlton and StKilda would be playing in the grand final this year. He still has 1 more opportunity for a hug.

don't think anyone would have said anything if he just went to Harvey

It was the other 21 he went to that was the issue

That's typical of your logic.

Gee MadBlue,

Mark Maclure and a few other Carlton blokes have made similar comments about Fevola, and I don't see anyone questioning their commitment to the club. I am writing this as someone who would have traded Fev years ago, but remain convinced the club will re-sign him. The fact I pay a membership every year means I contribute to the success or otherwise of this club, and I would like to think that cj69 does the same. In the end, we are all entitled to our opinions, especially those of us who fork out hard earned to be members. I don't think cj69 deserves the sort of post you have just written about him.

Mark Maclure is as anti-Fev as anyone going. Fev could kick 10 and Sellars would bag him. Suppose he does polarise people. Fev has been tremendous for this club, continually kicking goals in adversity with half the opposition hanging off him. This year 64 goals, outstanding chasing and tackling, which has created goals. That average would give him 95. Add to that the 6 and BOG from the state game. Coleman Medals, Michael Tuck medals, he's done pretty well for this club through some horrible years. Given we have nothing else forward, trading him would be dumb, especially for a side on it's way up. 64 goals, a side surprisingly pushing the 8, I think things are going well.

Buckley specifically mentioned Robert Harvey. Singled it out as an issue.

Jim,

I'm not arguing whether Sellers is right or wrong. I'm also not arguing whether Fev should or shouldn't be traded (though I would get rid of him). What I am arguing is that Sellers is entitled to an opinion, and so is cj69. He didn't deserve the attack he got from MadBlue.

Losers hugging the winners has been going on in sport all over the world for years. Doesn't mean the loser isn't shattered. Can tell you that first hand. Everyone has their own way of handling, or even masking disappointment. We all know that surely. Buckley spoke sh1t there. Nothing like our judgements once again clouded by percerptions rather than reality. It was simple thinkers stuff. The pictures in the rooms after the game told alot different story to that out on the ground.

Nathan Buckley's head ISN'T screwed on right: if you judge him by the standards normal human beings should live their lives by.

He's an unrelentingly professional sportsperson, totally devoted to the contest. This gives him an abnormal and unbalanced focus. As all totally dedicated sportspeople seen to posses.

But it's this focus that made him one of the best players of his era, and will most likely make him one of the best coaches of his era too.

He's one of the people in football I listen to.

Correct. He is somewhat of a robot. It has it's good and bad aspects, and in this case it was very tedious of Buckley to rabbit on the way he has.

Seen a bit of CJ's opinions. Andre Agassi once said "the one thing about an opinion is that you don't have to know anything to have one". Applies in many cases.

Certainly will defends his right t the death to have an opinion. I defend "MadBlue's" right to to tell him what he thinks of it too and I' don't see reason to disagree with him either. My opinion.

It's carries on from another forum, not started here so it's been going for a little while.

Have you ever gone to a Carlton live game ? You seem to really hate Carlton, or maybe you are miserable about life in general. You make me laugh.

I don't have any problems with differing opinions to mine but i can't stand the personal attacks on our own by "supporters". These same people will contradict themselves time and time again when Fev wins us footy games in the future !

Correction - When Bucks mentioned Fev hugging ALL the players he said "I don't know if he knows Robert Harvey".

He didn't single Harvey out as someone Fev shouldn't have hugged.

Robert Harvey is the only St Kilda player he mentioned. If that isn't singling out Robert Harvey then what is?

unless they want to come to the Pies. Which doesn't really matter because all clubs hate us and refuse to deal with us. Except Freo. Yeah, nah, they're good. No, actually they're really shit and have no choice. Thank God for Freo! )

The reason noone will deal with Collingwood is because they ridiculously overrate their players. Even the filth football department believe the meeeedya hype.

Freo deal with Collingwood because they're stupid. Ever since the inception of Freo their recruiting and trading has been ridiculous.

Kudo's for Collingwood though for recognising that fact.

See MadBlue,

I don't know that all supporters who are in the trade Fev camp will contradict themselves. One of my favourite games from fev this year was vs Freo. He didn't kick many, but he chased, harrassed, and didn't put his head down once. If he did that every week then I'd be happy. Equally, I've been critical of him in 7 or 8 goal games where he has had periods in which he has lambasted team mates, or dropped off from a chase. That's when I think he doesn't do enough for the team.

Anyway, it is all a moot point, because I am sure the club will re-sign him.

This is where he singled out Fevola hugging Harvey:

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/buckley-repeats-fevola-roast/2008/07/13/1215887454492.html

Of all the people to single out he picks Harvey, when Fevola who was a St Kilda supporter and has no doubt admired Harvey since he was 4 years old, has his last chance to say goodbye.

Perhaps Fev should have smeared his blood on Harvey instead.
