I am heading overseas in roughly 3-4 weeks time and while over there will catch up with my cousins who I have not seen for 20 years. I was thinking since they got me hooked on Newcastle United in the English Premier League, I would introduce them to Carlton.

That got me thinking that I could purchase a "name-a-game" DVD showing the talent and skill involved in AFL. It would be ideal I think if it was a Carlton game and we had a win at the MCG.

Would there be a game out there that any of you could suggest I buy for my cousin? Keeping in mind they have never seen the game, let alone know who Fevola, Judd and Murphy are! Any suggestions are welcome and I am hopeful of making a purchase in the coming days...

Regards, Shaun (sticks1977)

If you want to go for the Judd, Gibbs and Fev factor, look no further than our most recent win over the Pies!! :-D

BTW I feel sorry for you coming to monsoon land. Don't expect to see too much sun.

Yep!

Just double check it before you go. I got a dud that cut most of our goals out. They sent me a new one, but it took a few days.

Carlton v Filth 1986 MCG
The game when Banks knocked out Rhys.
That game had feeling.

If your cousins have broadband and a decent monitor/laptop screen then you can watch both the Pies game and the Port game from this year for £1.99 from http://www.afl.aussiesport.tv

You could give them the false impression that Justin Davies was a superstar of the AFL and take the round 7 win against the Pies from 2004. That was a great day.

Well what can I say? Thank you to all for recommending certain games that are worthy of being sent on DVD around to the other side of the planet...

I have ended up picking the Carlton v Collingwood game from this year (the second one where Fev kicked 8 goals) as the MCG was near full capacity that day and we naturally came from behind and won.

Not sure if it will work on my Uncle's DVD player, but I am sure that I can jump on the web and find a region decoder for him. He will find it a bit surreal though as he follows Newcastle United in the EPL, who ironically wear black and white stripes and are also nicknamed the Magpies!

I will also be purchasing him a new carlton polo top so that he is another proud supporter of the navy blues!

Regards, Shaun (sticks1977)

Yeah good choice. The two filth games this year were both special and I'm glad I was there for both.
