Again, you are making assumption based on Walker's interview whilst completely ignoring two of Ratten's interviews in the past two weeks. Anyone who watched Ratten's latest would hardly be surprised Walker wasn't selected for tonight's game. Who knows why exactly? You certainly don't, nor do I. But there is most definitely a reason and Ratten and his match committee have to stand by their decision.

If Walker was definitely in tonight, Ratten would've been as emphatic about it as he was with Judd in that press conference.

Think about it,why would he go West when he likes were he lives. If the club did that on him,he would just walk in the draft uncontracted and play for Melbourne. I think we like to have him in,but we shouldn't risk him yet. I'm sure if we get beaten he will be in straight away next game, you shouldn't make too much changes when your winning.

Lets face it, when Parkin was the coach, it was the players who were actually doing the coaching; they didn't need a coach, they were the dream machine.

Parko was gobsmacked being surrounded by the cream of footballers of this entire continent.

I truly believe ll Parko did was gee up a few in times of need, and the rest of the time it was the players who knew what they had to do in the 3rd Q (after their head cleared up from the night before) to win the game.

The players were freaks and the game was ahead of where Parko was at the time; it's the same today.

By the way I still love Parko; he's earned my love by being a premiership coach. He is in a rare group...John Nichols, Ron Barrassi come to mind

Walks is respected and a wanted player; he's a CARLTON boy...and will be A PREMIERSHIP player in my lifetime.

Just my own theory, but if carlton win tonight, they are a legitimate finals chance and Walker can get amongst it for the rest of the year. If they lose, he can be eased through the remainder of 2008 and then he can shred in 2009!

did any of you happen to listen to Parko and Tim Lane on 774 after the game? they were talking about where Carlton might actually be in terms of development and ladder expectations. it was quite a good argument, but Parko summed it up by saying that where ever we finish, that will be where we are at, or to quote "where they're at will be where they're at"

HUH!!!?????!!! :?:

while i think i understand that he meant something along the lines of we will finish between 9 and 11, and that while we are better than the bottom 5 teams, we are not as good as the top 8, and in terms of development, 9 -11 would be a reasonable expectation. at least that is how i interpreted it....

now, i think Parko did wonderful things for us over the years, but the comment above does sound like someone who is fishing for things to say, and to hark back onto a further comment, where he stated that he hoped Carlton don't make the finals, has me wondering about his ability to comment on the modern game and that he may be carrying some bad blood. i think,as others have mentioned that he is just using the walker 'story' to beef up his waning cred as a commentator, and reading the other posts on this thread with the comments above in mind, i would not be taking him too seriously. next he'll be saying that fevola is going to Sydney.......

Parkin has had football dementia for years now and like Deano I take little notice of anything he says.
Andrew Walker was one of our best players of recent years when we were down and out and Parkin must have missed those years when he was one of our best trainers and was building up his body from athlete to footballer....you could never question his attitude or application to the game.
He has had a serious shoulder injury so why would the club rush him back...time for Parkin to retire from the media.

I told you Walker will be in the side next week, just had to wait for the loss that i had a feeling we were going to have, but hope we wouldn't.How many games is Wiggins on,when is it his 100,he was quiet tonight, nearly quiet as Edwards.

Anyone who was there this day left with no doubt at all that Tex leaves nothing out on the training track. A lot has been made about the example Judd has set on the training track. Now maybe Judd has been able to show Tex who to train smarter, but I have no doubt that he didn't need to show him anything about workrate.

If he wasn't quite ready for this week then there just wasn't enough time.

David Parkin's media attitude towards carlton has always struck me as being somewhat bitter since the Brittain sacking.

Personally I take everything he says in the media with a grain of salt, especially when it's in relation to Carlton.

Yeah, I put him in the Tim Lane category - DGOCM - Disgruntled grumpy old Carlton men.

Just one of BT's 'bombs' suggesting he was left out for 'disciplinary reasons'

And senile old Parkin ran with it.
Five clear days must elapse before an injured player can return.
(Bullants played Sunday,Saints game on Friday).

I thought when he went off 5 minutes into the last quarter against tassie last week that they were saving him for the saints! I just keep forgetting that he has missed months of football and training and that he wouldn't have the run to play a game of AFL after 2 weeks in the twos and with a 4 day break, god i cant wait till he plays this week,
