Seriously, why the hell is there so much worry?? He will sign when he signs, if he wants to piss off, piss him off and we'll get something good in return anyway.

Obviously the newspapers want to sell their publications and radio stations want their ratings thus all the innuendo and baseless facts but from where I stand its pretty straight forward.....

I just can't understand the hysteria behind it all, what are people worried about??? That he is going to walk out of the club for free?  Ain't gonna happen so quit worrying and just wait till the club announces it one or another. Meanwhile, we have a finals spot to catch :!:

x2

Anyway, just love reading about what our "insiders" have to say 8)

I haven't said squat about this issue - because no matter what:

* Fev will sign with who he likes, and we can't change that.

* The media circus will play that out, their way, for maximum exposure...

* People will always discuss these issues until their blue in the face, and the media circus will always fuel this with their bullshit "scoops".

What I mentioned above are constants - there are no two ways about it.

A person who closely resembles a board member at an inner city AFL club confirmed that Fev "MAY" or "MAY NOT" sign a multi year deal in the forseeable future!

For all you people who apparently dont understand how the media works, you can take that to the bank!
Or not......

Love your work, BV

I'm pretty sure the club is looking to invest in cloning technology - in a view to cloning a champion utility player to fill the gap in the event that Fev leaves.

Yes, that's right - they want to clone GIBBINS!

You heard it here first.

From the article:

Quote:
Barnes admitted that he received his information second-hand from a mate, who claimed to be sitting next to Barry Hall in a cafe in Sydney last Saturday and overheard him talking about being "shafted" for Fevola.

"All I can go on is what my mate told me about a conversation he overheard involving Barry Hall," Barnes said.

Douchebag.

Quote:
Despite Carlton's high-priced acquisition of West Coast premiership captain Chris Judd late last year, Swann said the Blues had room to manoeuvre within their cap to accommodate Fevola's bid for more cash up front.

A more common back-ended deal would have suited Carlton better as in his third year of Fevola's new deal, he becomes eligible for veteran status, and the Blues would have had the luxury of declaring only half his 2011 money inside their cap.

The actual remuneration mix over the next three years is yet to be resolved, but it could be a $800,000, $600,000, $600,000 spread, which the Blues are prepared to accept.

"We'll get to a resolution of the mix, it's just a matter of agreeing on how much we pay up-front," Swann said.

I'm surprised that front ending of contracts hasn't been dicussed more in AFL circles.

Let's say Carlton was $500,000 under it's salary cap for 2009, why wouldn't you pay Judd and four other players an extra $100,000 in 2009, which would come out of their payments for the remainder of the contract? This would allow an extra $500,000 available in the cap in later years to keep up and coming stars, or attract a top player from another club.

I think you can do that Sieg, and I think that's what we've done.

You can't, however, back-end a contract and have half of that years salary come out of the TPP. It's only half of an average over the length of that contract. Otherwise we could pay $10 in 2008, $10 in 2009 and $2m in 2010.

BREAKING NEWS:

Just heard from a mate of a mate that one of his mates was sitting in a cafe next door to a cafe that was formerly owned by a past AFL player and he seemed to think that one of the paintings on the wall abstractly showed a player that had some resemblance to Brendan Fevola and also a duck.

Barry Hall's manager's ex-girlfriends adopted child could then be overheard on a mobile phone and with distinct clarity the person on the other end, who may or may not have been Jonathon Brown, indicated that it wasn't in fact a duck, it was a Swan.

This child was sitting a table next to a quite broad-shouldered man who ordered a main course of duck (see painting information for obvious link to Swan) and for dessert he wanted the cheese platter with extra Blue cheese, thus irrefutably confirming the fact that Brendan Fevola would in fact be playing for the Swans.

This story was corroborated by John Barnes and Hutchy independently as neither had talked to anyone involved or each other or any respectable journalists.

I'll be asking questions if it isn't announced tonight at the presidents dinner like they were saying. Not having a go at them, because they're only getting second hand information which is spot on normally but there refusal to believe anything else and pooh pooh everyones opinion is rather short sighted IMO.
