Hutchy must have been paid by Collingwood to put the Swans off their game. Fancy holding a press conference the day before a big game to deny you have spoken to a player from another club...

depends on what you think a 'great' is.

personally, I reckon any club would only have a dozen or so 'greats'. less if you're a crap club, more if you're a carlton.

Fev would most likely be in our top 100 players of all time at the moment.

If you think that we've had 100 'greats' play for us, then I guess you'd call him a great. I don't, so I don't.

champion, yes. great, no.

You would probably find the whole stunt was cooked up by Fev and his management - Roos just wants to distant himself and his club from the charade

If it's money he is looking for there is a job that has just opened up that he would be good at

Fevola will first be recognised as a Carlton Great of the modern era.

In time, when the controversy surrounding his behaviour is forgotten, his status as a player at Carlton will grow.

Sydney had a fire sale last year so as they could stay under the cap ... where are they going to get the money from to pay Fev.

Sounds like oldest trick in the book to me. Fev wants more than is on offer so the big 'Deal' gets spin-doctored out with a carefully placed word in Hutchies ear.

If they think Swanny and Stick will fall for that one they are dreamin'

Probably correct

In which case it's quite appaling of fev use such cynical tactics in negotiating his contract. For all the class fev shows on the field, he just can't find any class off it.

You wouldn't see a class act negotiate their contract the way Fev has. On the footy show every 2nd week - a joke.

at the start of the season I said to my brother i have this feeling the club will drag out this process and wouldn't be surprised if he is traded. Of course they laughed at me, and so will many off you but im starting to believe that this may be the case.

all the talk from inside the club has been we want Fev, we need Fev, we love Fev and he is important for this club to go forward

and all this praise for Fev kind is coming across as being somewhat orchestrated.

This is the same guy who has giving the club so much grief, poor leadership on field, has shown the club a lack of disrespect. The same guy who at the B&F was carrying on when one of the clubs legends was giving a speech

I find it hard to understand how the likes of Swany, Pratt and Sticks would swallow there pride and almost fall to there knees and beg a guy like this to stay

shouldn't the club have followed there initial stance at the start of the year that Fev must prove to us he is worthy of another contract. it seems as if they have done a complete 360 on that so either they are worried he will leave or just maybe they are planning to move him on

I think you may need a lesson on when to use "they're", "there" and "their".

I trust people like grrofunger and Josh Kaplan who were spot on with the Judd trade last year, and if they say that Fev is staying then he is staying

Fev's at an interesting impasse with the CFC on this one; from my perspective, it looks like Swann and Icke are saying, "Listen, you've had the run of the show for the last 5-6 years. Now that we've got Judd and are looking around for another big name, do you want to be a part of this or do you want to strike it out on your own?" FWIW, it'll be interesting to see how Fev handles this: I'll wait and see how this is played out. :?

I can see the cliched argument of Fev's- he needs to secure his future- my question is, what is his primary motivation? Premierships or $$$$?

Relax...just trying to provide some constructive criticism...

Ok, back to topic (been put in my place by Melvey  ). Fev won't leave. Why would he? My guess is he will stay, and he will do this on terms that are slightly more favourable to the Blues.

for those who think Fev worth $750k a year here's what Paul Roo's said today

"We absolutely haven't made him a four-year off, we haven't made any offer what so ever. It's ridiculous, $3 million over four years, I don't know where that comes from"
