As long as we dont get sucked into a game of one upmanship with Sydney then I am not too worried.

My guess is that hell stay, and for a lot less than the Swans are offering. Thats all good.

But if he goes, then thats his choice, and well take the salary cap relief and draft picks and promising players that are headed our way from the Swans.

Nothing to worry about here. Besides, didnt Josh Kaplan say the deal was done and would be announced next week? Id back Josh over Hutchy any day.

Yep, why wait around and see what happens before we judge him?

Hey, at least with Fev potentially running off to Sydney on a 4 year, $3mil contract there'll be plenty of ammunition for the negative nellies to keep TC interesting until our next loss.

Ok, lets for a minute believe the bloke who ended up settling out of court after one of his last big scoops was proved completely false.

How would Sydney get the deal done? They'd need to offer a substantial trade on top of whatever they offer Fev. And we'd screw them blind. They would be about 8th pick on the pre-season draft so thats them shot their.

And why would Sydney want to trade away whatever low draft picks they have with the impending concessions for the two proposed new teams?

Slow news day from the king of ambulance chasers.

Wasnt there a rule that stated that other teams couldnt contact a contracted player till the end of the season?

thats what i dont get with the story. IF that is the correct rule.

Thats the big hole in the story and the fact that swans have no one to really trade with apart from goodes and okeefe. Sydney wont let them go

i think you are right

and if there was talks of other clubs i dont think it would be the best idea to air them in public as it can unsettle a side

It wouldnt be fair for fev to announce he was going to the swans or what ever side now specially when our team is progressing and starting to lift...this would be a kick in the guts to the team

i think fev is staying at the blues something doesnt ring true with hutchy

cheers

who cares what Sydney are offering.. what a stupid story
All we need to know is that Fev wants to stay at Carlton and we have the money to pay him- isnt that all that is needed for a deal to get done?
Stop listneing to this crap

Thats the worry for me, another Kouta like deal.

Play hard and fair, if Fev wants something more than that then lets explore trade options.

difficult to see sydney doing a trade but history shows that they are more than willing to pay for players that they want (hall, jolly, ball, richards, davis, mattner etc). The trade would also make sense in that roos has stated publically previously that he would like to get another flag with hall/goodes/oloughlan/bolton etc who all have just a few years left

In terms of a trade you would imagine that the swans would have to let go at least a couple of players in order to make cap room for Fev (ie more likely to be a mid range player than a young gun on base salary).

Having a quick look through the swans list in terms of what might appeal to us the only players on the list that I could come up with were
malceski/bevan (young, promising, defender),
mcveigh/ablett/ (young, solidish mid),
vesepremi (young goal kicker?)
bird/jack (young mid)

of the established guys only malceski holds any real appeal to me - as for the younger ones vesepremi/bird would be nice but I dont see them being offered as they wouldnt offer the swans much cap relief (unless the swans were going to trade away a 3rd player for cap relief...

Perhaps something like mcveigh+swans 1st pick to Essendon* for pick 5 (based on current ladder)

In effect sydney give up - pick 13, malceski+mcveigh+vesepremi for Fev.
In effect they only lose mcveigh from the team that has gotten them to the top 4 thus far this season, Pick 13+vesepremi arent part of the 22 so there is no impact on the team, they've shown the ability to cover malceski when he did his knee. You would imagine they would be prepared to offer such a deal

For the blues, pick 5 (watts/hurley/yarran/natanui/rich/suban etc - no idea just bandying 5+ names that have been mentioned as around the mark lol)+malceski+vesepremi to blues for Fev

why waste time with trade scenarios - this is the biggest load of shit to fill a rubbish tv show in a week where there is only 2 games.

open your window , find the moon, start flapping your arms up and down vigorously and try to take off.

much more productive

If fev is out of contract, can't he just walk, why do they have to trade anything he could just go into the pre-season draft and with that price tag and deal on his head, no one else could afford him.

Although personally I think this is just a case of smoke and mirrors, a bit of drama to fill in the week's break.

I think Kennyhunter said it best 8)
