This was not Mr Lipski’s (CEO of the Pratt foundation) first visit to Westbourne. In December 2006 he met with the then Captains of both the Senior and Junior Schools. During that visit he asked if the School raised money for any charities. On learning that Westbourne students raised in excess of $20,000 each year for charity he issued a challenge: “Raise more money for charity in 2007 than you did in 2006 and the Pratt Foundation will double it!” Westbourne students accepted that challenge and as a result earlier this year we received a cheque from the Foundation for $26,000.
That money has already been passed on to our School Charity for 2008 - “Kampuchea House”, an orphanage located in Siem Reap in Cambodia. As a result work has already commenced on building a community House at the orphanage. This will provide a meeting area for the residents and the local community as well as a centre for teaching English to the orphans and locals to make them more employable in Cambodia’s expanding tourist industry.
Westbourne students have to raise a further $24,000 by December to enable the building to be completed. Mr Lipski was very impressed with the use Westbourne students had made of the money received from the Pratt Foundation and so repeated the challenge: “Raise more money in 2008 than you did in 2007 and the Pratt Foundation will double it”. Westbourne students are determined to meet the challenge and ensure that the orphans at Kampuchea House are the beneficiaries of their efforts.
Great stuff Dick and co!
It is great stuff Dick - but the "Bogan & No Shows" and lowest common demoninator journalists and media who sycophantically toady to them will of course choose to make stupid snide remarks.
If only the estate of serial rip-off merchant Ron Evans put the $3.50 that he makes on every bottle of spring water sold through his rip off monopoly Spotless Catering to a worthwhile charity.
I dont know about revenge served cold - I wouldn't mind standing over the body with a dagger with hot blood dripping off it.
