This is a great example of why we have been in disarray over the past few years and why teams cannot afford to lose their "culture/heritage". Our old boys turned their back on the club and we paid the price. Hopefully we must never let this happen again, ever.

It wasn't the old players who turned their backs on the club - it was the club through pagan who turned their back on the old players.

Glad Diesel is around as he'd have a lot to impart through his skill based knowledge. Good stuff!

no offence but how would you know something like that??

what was it that pagan did to drive those players away?? did he tell them he doesn't want their help?? maybe the board may have put some players off from returning but i struggle to understand how pagan could have.

I think Diesel wanted the club to pay his taxes for him.... and the club wouldnt/couldnt....so Diesel turned his back on the club... but Im sure Pratt would have paid Diesels taxes....so hes back...

Good to see him back and involved anyway... but does it take Diesel to tell Gibbs to work harder???

Is it such a bad thing?

Gibbs I'm sure was a hard worker prior to Diesel being a mentor, but Gibbs hasn't really had anyone at the club that he could use as a measuring stick? Now he has Judd and Diesel who will show him hard hard he needs to work to become a Top 5 player as opposed to Top 50.

I'm happy to have Diesel in a role where he's helping the players. Not so sure I'd be keen to see him in admin role again, however.

Must admit they took me aback a bit.

As long as he keeps it up!

The price of Diesel has always been expensive :)

Why is it surprising to some that a 18-19 yo kid may not understand exactly how much he needs to push himself? Remember who his captain & VC were last year?

Things have improved this year but he hasn't exactly been surrounded by great senior role models in terms of pushing yourself to be the best you can

I'm sure he would bust his arse enough without Diesel - but it's a good spin, and a good story - brownlow medallist helps young up and coming champion... what are they going to say he helped with? disposal?!

diesel would look at gibbs hand and foot skills and go - 'mate, i think you are doing juuuuuuuust fine!'. :-D
