Our fitness was shocking at the start of the season so someone needs to take the blame.

The improvement has been excellent. I am hoping we peak at the time we play our first final.

WIGGENS - I never doubted this man. I love him as much as a straight guy can love another man.

Don't think so.

Apparently Cordy has a pretty big say in the interchange rotations, telling Ratts when players need a break and for how long so as to maximise the output of the players actually on the ground. This in part explains why you sometimes see a player being benched despite having just kicked a cracking goal.

He used what time he did have with the pre-season to work out these numbers for the key players. It will be great to see what he can do with a full pre-season to work with the players, and presumably the chance to extended the maximum impact times and reduce the required recovery times for our guns.

The level of fitness at the start of the season was also due to the number of kilometres travelled pre-season. The team travelled to South Africa for altitude training, playing in Darwin, South Australia and somewhere else but I can't remember where.

They did say the altitude training will help the team in the latter part of the season which we are about to enter 8)

Notice other clubs are aware of this as well. The last few weeks opposition coaches have said they knew the Blues were going to come hard in the last - still haven't been able to stop it however 8)

Employing Cordy is typical of the Pratt led resurgence.

To be the best they're employed and spmewhere out there. Offer them the dollars they're worth and get them. That's what we did.

We have the best in the business and he is empowered to make the final call.

Great to hear Ratts mention him yesterday. It isn't an easy relationship to have between The Fitness adviser and coach; but ours is now working in unison. Great to see. Well done Ratts.

Cordy knows what he's doing.

Hey now, Collingwood had to leave Melbourne earlier in the year, let's not forget that ;)

Plagiarism is great when you get away with it at school.

This Bigfooty thread isn't imitation....this is word for word copying.

How embarassing

Be interesting to see if some of the younger players fall away due to not being seasoned footballers.

If so this could cause some problems especially with some senior players to come back into the side like Walks, Banno and Houla who obviously may take time to regain there match fitness.

Yup. Great stuff Cordy. Its well known that when you're training very hard, your perfomances actually suffer. Its only a bit down down the track that you actually start to see the benefits of the hard work....which we are seeing now.

The rest of the season will just be maintaining the fitness, rather than building. Maybe that's why JR has played some good last quarters, its whne the opposition start to drop off......... :P

Was watching that Spirit of Australian Sport documentary tonight and someone said that playing AFL at the top level is like running a half marathon every week and behind ever tree there's someone ready to smash you...or words to that effect.

I'm not sure why some are commenting about the early games and our relative unfitness.

Our fitness plans for the year were about starting slowly and then building to finish the season stronger than in previous years.

Under DP we started strong iei NAB Cup and then fell away during the second half of the season.

The idea being that while other teams who have a good mix of young and old fall away during the second half of the season, we can capitalise on this and win some games.

Although not ideal losing the first few games of the year, I appreciate the logic now because we are playing so strongly in the Premiership Quarter. :-D
