As an aside, if the concussion was sufficiently bad that he is still not right this week. Why was he allowed back on the field after it happened last week?

This smack of shutting the gate after the horse has bolted.

No it doesn't.

"Medical tests conducted during last week's game, following the heavy collision in the first quarter, indicated Chris was fit to continue during the match and the medical team regularly monitored him throughout the game. Unfortunately his symptoms deteriorated after the game. The medical team have confirmed that Chris playing out the game against Essendon* has had no bearing on his availability for selection this week," Ratten added. - Herald-Sun

Judd was the player that was instrumental in more than one of our wins - so it will be more difficult with him out - but player health is paramount.

As I have said, the year that we make the 8 - and then progress in the finals is a year with a great deal of good fortune with injuries.

It just feels at this point that the injury toll to date is becoming a bit too high to be seen as a lucky year injury wise..

Having said this, Id really love to see us beat Richmond though, with a super team effort from our young players.

Ah, what did you expect the press release to say?

"The Carlton medical staff have confirmed that they stuffed up and sent a concussed player back onto the ground for three quarters last week against Essendon*.

Ratten added that although the coaching staff, media, and 70,000 spectators all noticed Judd was visably labouring after the head clash with Lloyd, he'd made the tough call to leave the Blues champ out there in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to snatch a unlikely third come-from-behind win against the Dons, and keep the Blues' finals hopes alive".

No I think they're in a better position to make the call and continuing to play would not have affected the outcome. So your comment the horse has bolted is wrong.

I have also heard today that Judd has a broken cheekbone, cracked ribs, busted shoulder and a groin problem. Maybe he just has concussion?

http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/mikesheahan/index.php/heraldsun/comments/judd_needs_a_second_opinion/

jeff kennet and mike sheahan would have to be the best medical personnel from far away and we should have seeked there expert medical advice before ruling out Judd from the field...

seriously thou it isnt a bad time to rest judd anyway as to give hime 2 weeks of rest .. and i think it will give a us the oppurtunity to see where we are at without judd at the helm

cheers

Yes, yes it is.

Just means the tests are inadequate. Doctors should try using some common sense instead. Someone will get sued eventually.

Anyway, enough said.
