Through work, I have been invited to join in Carlton training with the players next Tuesday night...

The 13 year old inside me is pumped - the 46 year old on the outer might struggle!!

Good luck Willie. Don't forget to do a warm down afterwards or you'll pay the price the next morning

I did it back in 2005! It was a good experience! You should also get a guersey where u can get players to sign it! Not all players will be there but it will be good experience as you will also have dinner with them!

Enjoy mate!

I did it last year, was a great night. There'll be a few players on each of five or six different activities, you spend about 10 mins on each one. You get changed down in the Carlton rooms, walk up the race, and run through a banner as 'We are the Navy Blues' 'blares' out of the Bose PA system

Afterwards you have dinner in the social club and a few players and officials will speak.

Don't do what I did - make sure you don't get your free jumper signed by a player who will get delisted (Raso in my case)!

Enjoy, it's a great night.

Just got back from a great night at Princes Park.

Can I just say what a great bunch of nice blokes we have playing in the navy at present? Every one of them was polite, happy to be there, talkative - and in my case very patient and supportive.

Had six different skills sessions run by the players. Hadley, Betts, Austin, Setanta, Hoops, Jamo, Griggs, Bentick and a few others (sorry!!) looked after each activity. Covered everything from goal kicking, speckys, tackling etc.

Ended up having dinner with them in the social club, and scored a club jumper (clash...) that everybody autographed.

A really well run event that made everybody feel welcome.

No real goss...Griggs' ribs are fine - it was actually concussion...
Hoops has been playing in pain for two years getting jabbed in the hips before each game. In the end, the injections stopped working, so he had the op and most of this year off.
Setanta said the hardest part of AFL was dealing with the physical contact - Gaelic and Hurling (spelling?) are non contact. Add that to the pace and the professionalism.
Hadley's groin has been frustrating but feels he will be back soon - nice guy...
Eddie seems so rapt just to be there.
Bentick was saying the big difference this year was the physical/weights training - made a big difference - and the behind the scenes support and attention to detail.

And finally, I kicked 2 goals and laid a monster tackle without doing a hammy!!

Best night in ages...
