Yup :( :cry:

pro: we only needed to play 20 minutes of good footy to beat them

con: we only played 15

Carlton 2012: Lets remind them why they once feared the Dark.

As for saying we will get beaten, mate i know we are still shit and slowly becoming a bunch of pretenders because supporters like you and many Carlton supporters manage to talk up players as superstars when there nothing but ordinary footballers.

Sometimes Melvey 25% of what you come out with I consider home truths and although it's hard for me to admit it, I actually think at those times that you are a Carlton supporter and have some understanding of the game.

The above post blows that out of the water. If you truly believe what you have stated in the above post you obviously have no idea whatsoever. You talk about others on this site having a lob-sided "Pro Carlton" view on things, well what the flower do you think that your posts are? Well balanced? Objective? Constructive? Level headed?

Clearly you are not a Carlton supporter, and if for some unknown reason you actually are, you are a very poor one.

I take back the 'we are shit' part but do honestly believe that we are the worst when it comes to talking up mediocer players as stars

Like who?

Adam Bentick for one. Jordan Bannister gets a fair go on here

Sorry Melvey but I can't agree with you there. I can't ever recall anyone talking up those two players as stars. Maybe it's just your lob-sided view on things again? I can only ever remember these two players been talked about positively when they have been effective within their roles in the team.

i.e. Bentick - when he has extracted the contested ball and fed it directly to our runners, like in the Collingwood match, especially the last 1/4
Banno - when he has come up against his bitch Chad Cornes everytime

That's how Geelong went from crap to Premiers in 12 months

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This has to be the post of the day ... you honestly think Geelong went from crap team to a Premiership in 12 months :shock:

to compare Geelong going from a crap team to a premiership is total rubbish
Geelong since 2002 - 2007 where there abouts in the 8 until 2007 and continue that until 2008 mean while Blues have been bottom 4 / 8 for the same period more bottom 4
Geelong Blues
2002 9 16
2003 12 15
2004 4 11
2005 6 16
2006 10 16
2007 1 15
2008 so far 1 10

Now if you think Geelong was crap to get to the Premiership and dont look back over last 6 years between the 2 clubs you really have very little idea of how a club builds to even get into a position for a Premiership

Geelong have been building over 4 -6 years ... the Blues have been utter crap for the same period only now in 2008 can we look to build and aim from 2008 onwards to getting into the 8 and play finals... may not even be until 2009

Geelong had a dismal '06 and were 2-3 last year and the knives were out. The same stuff being written about St.Kilda now was being written about Geelong (game plan sucks, coach has to go, no leadership, recruited the wrong players etc.). Funny how things can change in 12 months.

Happy for you to pull out stats to suit your argument though...

Those stats look pretty conclusive to me. :?

You say Geelong were "crap" before last year. Well they had finished 4th, 6th, and 10th for the 3 years prior to 2007. In that same time we finished 11th, 16th and 16th. Geez, I wish we were as crap as Geelong!!!!

Look, I expect that we will finish between 8th-11th this year (with anywhere between 8-11 wins) which will be a big step from 15th and 4 wins. If we can't grow on that next year or at least stay around the mark, I would say we are in a lot of trouble. Until then, I say judge us on the year to date which I would say has been a huge improvement.

Maybe raise this in a years time when there is no evidence of continuous improvement in our group, until then I say buckle yourself in for a bumpy ride, because it looks guaranteed!!!

Geelong where not crap in 2006 the 3 years before they where seen as one of the teams to emerge as a major force in the top 8 / 4 and when they finished poorly in 2006 they where seen to have underperformed and this was where Bomber thompson was under threat for being removed and had that big review

Big difference between the Blues and Geelong

Geelong had a list that was building and was basically ready for finals as seen in 2007 with the Premiership

Blues have been languishing in 16th and working on putting a list together to be competative

Pro: Kick-ins were great.

Cons: Ratten is still being criticised by the fans who said the kick-ins needed to improve.

Maybe a young coach needs as much time to learn and develop as the players....

PROs
* Fevola in imperious form
* Not long now til Walker returns
* Great comeback, but not sure we should accept that really given the opposition. We should have been in front that entire game.
* Murphy getting back in when he made mistakes
* Gibbs was very good

CONs
* Defence not working with each other at all, often getting in each other's way
* Not utilising other forward options
* Not utilising Fisher to take advantage of his attributes
* Russell's 3 stats
* Carlton sitting back and waiting for Judd and / or Bentick to get the ball in the first quarter. On a number of occasions you could see us hesitate and Essendon* took full advantage.
* Not utilising Carrazzo's ball winning to best advantage, we need him to be handballing on quickly rather than relying on his static kicking.
* Quiet games from many of the inexperienced types, suggesting either awe, lack of leadership or not working well as a team
