That's how Geelong went from crap to Premiers in 12 months

This has to be the post of the day ... you honestly think Geelong went from crap team to a Premiership in 12 months
to compare Geelong going from a crap team to a premiership is total rubbish
Geelong since 2002 - 2007 where there abouts in the 8 until 2007 and continue that until 2008 mean while Blues have been bottom 4 / 8 for the same period more bottom 4
Geelong Blues
2002 9 16
2003 12 15
2004 4 11
2005 6 16
2006 10 16
2007 1 15
2008 so far 1 10
Now if you think Geelong was crap to get to the Premiership and dont look back over last 6 years between the 2 clubs you really have very little idea of how a club builds to even get into a position for a Premiership
Geelong have been building over 4 -6 years ... the Blues have been utter crap for the same period only now in 2008 can we look to build and aim from 2008 onwards to getting into the 8 and play finals... may not even be until 2009
Geelong had a dismal '06 and were 2-3 last year and the knives were out. The same stuff being written about St.Kilda now was being written about Geelong (game plan sucks, coach has to go, no leadership, recruited the wrong players etc.). Funny how things can change in 12 months.
Happy for you to pull out stats to suit your argument though...
Those stats look pretty conclusive to me.
You say Geelong were "crap" before last year. Well they had finished 4th, 6th, and 10th for the 3 years prior to 2007. In that same time we finished 11th, 16th and 16th. Geez, I wish we were as crap as Geelong!!!!
Look, I expect that we will finish between 8th-11th this year (with anywhere between 8-11 wins) which will be a big step from 15th and 4 wins. If we can't grow on that next year or at least stay around the mark, I would say we are in a lot of trouble. Until then, I say judge us on the year to date which I would say has been a huge improvement.
Maybe raise this in a years time when there is no evidence of continuous improvement in our group, until then I say buckle yourself in for a bumpy ride, because it looks guaranteed!!!
