We literally have not one key forward coming through, and today Essendon* showed they have a couple and Gumbleton isn't even playing. We need to obtain some key forward prospects as soon as possible. Whether that's picking the best available with our first pick, trading for Mitch Thorp, or someone else, we need some more forward options or our brilliant midfield of Judd Murphy Gibbs Stevens inter alia will go to waste.

A good question.

Who do you think is to blame?

Fisher misses from 50 and 45 from set shots, in fact didn't make the distance. It happens week after week after week. Unless Fisher marks within 20 he isn't dangerous and it 's about time we gave someone else a chance.

Fisher has one weakness and you highlight that and gloss over the marks and possessions when he is leading up onto the wings?? (which is his role in the team)

I hope you, as a mod, delete your own post for not being intelligible enough

Wrong.

Legspeed, getting in Fev's way, kicking for goal and no accountability are Fisher's weaknesses. He's useless when the doesn't mark it and the ball hits the deck for his opponent to clear the ball.

Wrong.

Legspeed is very good for the type of defender he attracts..

Getting in Fev's way .... happens occasionally as would for all forward set-ups. Fevola kicking 7 means he wasn't starved for opportunities

Kicking for goal is the weakness i alluded to.

No accountability? Yeah you're right... Ryder/Lovett Murry killed us going the other way didn't they.

Obviously it wasn't a great game and we lost... and yes we basically only have 1 goalkicking option.... but Fisher isn't the problem. Fisher's linkplay would be critical in a team with more natural goalkickers.

Basically everyone.
Whoever was running our development program before tihs year for failing to nurture our key forward prospects over the las tfew years.
The recruiting team for basically picking flops with anything other than a top five pick.
Richmond because their stupid offer of 2 18 and 20 meant we lost any chance of keeping JJK.
Whoever was in charge of the judd deal for offering up Kennedy instead of someone like Bower or Walker who WCE would probably have preferred anyway. (Don't get me wrong we still won the trade, but we could have done it without losing Kennedy in my opinion).
We need key positio nforward prospects and the cupboard is empty. Fev can only do so much.

No flowering idea what you are rambling on about.

Why are we focussing on a lack of forwards?

We got killed in the midfield.... if we win more clearances we win the match. Easy

The lack of forwards would only be an issue if Fevola misses the match.

Part of the problem, as someone else said, is that our players go to Fevola when there are other options.

Judd was completely off. Bentick was a bit off in the stoppages too, and Hille killed us in the ruck. Carrazzo and Murphy's skills were off. Waite struggled to get into the game as well. Thornton was dragged back inside 50 for much of the first half. Defensive midfield pressure awful, especially on blokes like Stanton who did as they please in the second half.

Angus Monfries played the game of his life and exposed Scotland/Carrazzo etc lack of defensive pressure... and putting Armfield on him was a bit too late.

Who are our other options?
Fisher who when he fails to mark the result is chaos? when he does mark has to be 30 out directly in front of it's a rarity he'll kick the goal?
Deluca?
Raso?
Hartlett?
Morrell?
Edwards?
Angwin?

We have failed at drafting rejects, we have failed at drafting under 18 players, and we have failed at trading for key forwards. Something needs to be done and it needs t obe done now.

If Walker's kicking was better I'd nominate him as the best candidate to throw in the F50 when he gets back.

Melvey I agree with you!

KK you were bagging my thoughts last week RE: Fisher!

Is it time to bring in Harlett??

I have said it many times WE NEED TO DEVELOP ANOTHER FORWARD WHO CAN KICK GOALS!

KK you can throw any stat you like at me!

Let's have a poll now!

Why are you asking me that? My point was that we lost today in the midfield not due to a lack of forwards.

But let me ask you this: which of the draft picks we did have - Murphy, Gibbs etc - would you give up to have this key forward on our list? Which key forward would you take instead of those players? (ie Gumbleton instead of Gibbs?)

Who should we have traded instead of Kennedy to get Judd?

We basically had a completely shithouse list, an awful midfield brigade, no key defenders and no ruckman. We have a lot of great young players in all those roles now.... except the key forward. Bringing in a key forward would have been at the expense of someone.

Fisher must go - been protected too long when his contributions have been poor for too long.

give edwards as much time as fisher has had and see the results.

would also let kruezer settle into another forward spot.

Exactly!

Until Fisher can prove his worth this season I would stick him in the ressies!

Brad Fisher no doubt is a smart footballer bar his strong grab he unfortunately just doesn't have the body for this game. He lacks pace, body strength, poor skills and lacks any penetration with his kick.

I just don't understand how bleeding obvious it is that we lack forward options but we persist with both Wiggo and Fisher up there. These guys are not getting any better and will not take this club and forward

How dangerous would a setup of Fev, Hartts and JK look and then find some small quick flashy forwards around them

Ackland kicked 8 against Geelong :-D come on down! NOT

Hartts is a developing fwrd prospect......we havnt really seen what he has coz he keeps pinging a hamstring every senior game. but he`s been on the list for 4 seasons, so maybe he can fill that fwrd void.

I liked Edwards.....the last game he played for us he played alright and kicked a good goal on a 45 degree angle from 50 and it went back into the crowd.

Well if that is obvious, why are you harping on about Fisher? Brad Fisher didn't lose us the game
