It's not just lack of taxpayer dollars, it's something else entirely.

Re Pratt's charges, think about what the ACCC have charged him with. Then think about what they have to prove in order find him guilty.

I'll leave that for you to think about.

I'm lost.

I think we should all let it go. Dick's finances and law team will ensure that unless there is some damning evidence this situation will merely be a hurdle for him, albeit a damaging one.

I'm not saying that we don't stick up for the Prez, all I'm saying is that we don't need to read Patricks Smith's rubbish articles or send him abusive emails and get hung up on the notion that he somehow had some importance in all of this. We need to focus our attention into supporting our footy club and the rest will take care of itself. We are just giving Patrick and all the Carlton haters ammunition to bait us and letting them think that they have won.

What will piss this mob off even more is to snub their jibes (whilst quietly sticking up for the Prez in a smug fashion, mind you :P i.e. "he'll be right, nothing to worry about really"), keep winning footy games, hopefully making the finals and then rubbing their noses in it when Pratt beats the charges.

Do you think they really care about what these charges are all about? Do you think they really care if he pays a fine or goes to jail? I think not. Just another thoughtless attempt at baiting our club because they know that we are on the way up and there is nothing that they can do to stop it 8)

Let's start our rally behind Dick this weekend by supporting our beloved Blues and tearing the scum an new arsehole!! :-D

That fact that he faces a maximum of $2200 for each of the four fines, or jail is well....confusing.

$2200 fines, even times four, is pretty small time if you ask me.

Surely that must be a missprint?

All I can say is thank you to R.Pratt for all you have done, it's much appreciated.

Seeming as we all love Swanny and the job he does why don't we make him president!! :-D

Supporters/Blues Team,

Granted Dick's situation now rests with the legal system and his lawyers. Right or wrong, we cannot judge.

What we cant forget is the hard work he has put in to the club. He rescued Carlton when we were a basket case!

I want the team tomorrow to go and belt the shit out of these red and black dickless wonders! And I hope that Fatprick will be watching.

Fatprick you Biggest Loser reject!

If he can pay a $36M fine and still carry on, he can afford a decent defence

He knows what we think - he can see it all here. But the Tshirt idea is a good one

I just can't think of any good slogans atm

Let it go?

If Dick had that attitude 16 months ago, where would we 'ALL' be?

Think about that one.......

Yes. What have we possibly got to gain out of feeding the egos of the likes of Patrick Smith and the Carlton haters by letting them think that we are a shattered, bitter mob???? Sure, we support the Prez and as I said we can be smugly confident in the meantime that he will beat all the charges. Dick knows what the Carlton faithful think of him, no point fuelling the fire so to speak.

What will piss everyone who is opposed to us off is if we just get on with the job and keep winning footy games.

Will this help us win footy games or get the Prez off his charges?

Think about that one.......

Do people really think that the ACCC doesn't want to prosecute cartel activity? Do people really understand what it takes to prove cartel activity?

Re Pratt's charges, I think what I said is clear enough. What are the charges against him? What therefore must the ACCC prove beyond reasonable doubt?

Doing nothing to me speaks volumes.

Yes get on with the job, win games of footy. Remembering who actually gave us the opportunity when all seemed lost......

Well i wouldnt know but the dobber innerers are Americans.... and Pratt has an American arm to his business.

For them to catch Pratt... someone has set him up...

And they have gone for the throat....

Its hard to prove... and they certainly got him tangled in some kind of web..

So in my opinion its abit of a Phar Lap story...

Just to clarify what im saying...

2 companies making boxes.
both come to an agreement and they both have it all to themselves and profits
1 company breaks the agreement and dobs the other in to the ACCC
That company gets imunity.. (even though it has been part of the collusion)
The other company cops a whack and the owner is smacked around the head mercilessly..
The company that dobs him in not only has imunity from punishment but its corporate reputation isnt even spoken about by the media...

Now the only way to bring a company like Visy down for collusion is for a heap of evidence...

The whole thing is weird...

Considering price fixing goes on daily all over this country...

To me it reeks of a personal assault on Pratt by some pretty big powers.. and probably not from within this country..

Without the Prez, we mightn't have been playing footy games in the future - and if we did we'd mostly likely been known as the "Gold Coast Blues".

I think it's a great idea, with a better slogan  - but I doubt enough support will be rounded up here. I could picture dozens of Carlton fans with these T-Shirts on outside the Richmond game, showing everybody that we stick together as a club and not just for the players.

Sadly now I've said this is a good idea, no one else will want to consider it. :(

Everyone should ring SEN on Monday and ask Smith when will he start his crusade for Qantas to be removed as the official AFL airline. They got fined $76m for price-fixing (more than double Visy), yet he says nothing about them.

no it says $2200 is the minimum punishment and 12 months' jail is the maximum penalty:

Quote:
The penalty for each charge ranges from a fine of $2200 to 12 months' jail.

Or Spotless catering, and how they're able to charge $4.20 for a bottle of Coke which normally sells for $2.50 outside the ground, and how you're unable to take your own drinks to the footy....

And just how was it that Spotless catering bought the catering contractors at Subi for a song, and magically all AFL matches got switched to Subi shortly after that decision. Insider trading, anyone?

Got it in one Synners. No-one here is saying the ACCC doesn't WANT to bring down other cartels, it's only that without the help of squealing contributors to the cartel, they neither have the resources or the competence to do it themselves. Unless they have someone from an oil company with ten briefcases full of documents walk up to them saying "I've got all the proof you need that price-fixing exists" they're going to do nothing but politely ask and get politely denied. They struck gold with Pratt and Amcor, and you can bet your bottom dollar anytime in future they get questioned over their handling of other investigations (ie petrol, airlines), that Pratt's head on a spike will again be produced for all to see to remind us all of how wonderful they are.

Good luck getting through then.

You need to tell their operators that you're a collingwood or richmond supporter, and you just want to accuse Carlton of cheating, rorting, and basically doing all the bad things in this world short of causing the Holocaust (and that your name is Johnno or Davo). Then you'll get on-air, and can then change your tune. Watch how quickly they cut you off.
