The words may have been initially uttered in more pressing times, but NOW is the time to ensure the Carlton Football Club continues to look forward.

Pratt was the one who steered our ship back the right way and our club is forever indebted to him. But the truth is, Dick wasnt going to be there forever and all this mornings news did was hasten that inevitability.

Lets concentrate on:
- cutting the numbers of board members to 8
- getting Fahour over the line as Director
- allowing Richard Newton to take the reigns as President
- Use the backing of Dick in a more 'unofficial leadership' role within the club. Nothing can stop Dick sitting in on board meetings, using his clout with corporates for the good of the club etc
- continuing the separation between board and football department- the club has not functioned this well for a very long time. Swanny and Icke are concentrating solely on football matters, the board on the finances. I have full confidence that this will continue.

There are very exciting times ahead for this footy club. Lets focus all our energies on using the Pratt mantra of "getting the job done" with new and enthusiastic people to do it, and the great man overseeing everything that is taking place.

Nicely said Josh.

Two questions Josh...

1. This is the second mention I have seen you make today of Richard Newton. Is it your personal opinion that Newton is the man to take the presidency? Or is this the prevailing view of Pratt and the Board?

2. How can we get complete separation between Board and Football Department (and I completely agree that this needs to be done) if the current (interim) President is also Chairman of Selectors?

I thought Sticks stood down from CoS when Dick came on board.

I wasn't aware of that happening, but not 100% sure. He was certainly sitting in the coach's box last Sunday.

I second the question about Newton, please tell us more Josh.

Pratt has done the right thing by the club, but I hope in the not too distant future we can get Kernahan into a position that best suits him, as I think it's pretty safe to say his role as President should only be short term.

I hope all and sundry within CFC are as furious as I am today!
I hope the blue baggers come out on Sunday and make a statement, a f****g huge statement that we are back big time!
I hope we keep building off field and Sir Richard is still seen, if not more often, during our games!
I want Carlton to play finals this year and not only that make a pest of themselves in the process!
I want to cause pain ... real pain during the off season!
I want the media, top of the list fatprick ... to get what they deserve!

A stirring speech before the game by our new President.

The old President part of the circle singing the song after the game.

Can all and sundry please refrain from the "fatprick" jibes.

Moreover, it will be best to ignore the guy and concentrate on supporting our great club. The sooner we are challenging for a flag the sooner he can start choking on his corn flakes.

Well said Josh.

This club can stand on its own two feet now due to Prattys influence, leadership and passion. Thanks Richard

Now lets eat the bombers alive.

Camel,

Do you have a preference other than "fatprick" that we could use?

I was think pussball, but am happy to be guided by a better description if you can offer one?

I suppose Patrick Smith would be too much to ask?

We bitch and moan at the names he calls our club and yet respond by doing the same. Wouldn't it be better to allow him to play the bitter fool while we celebrate our rise up the ladder.

;)

Agree with a lot of this. However can we realistically reduce the board to 8.
Newton for president is a great idea. That's 1 board member.
Fahour coming on is 2.
there are rumours pratt wants CDL in there so that's 3.

so then you have to cut down half the board? Is that fair? Who goes? Who stays? How do you determine who goes and stays? Who decides that? Shouldn't it be up to the members? So should it go to the AGM?

Patrick Smith?

If you give him a silly or derogatory nickname you are letting youself be dragged down to his level. When a grown man resorts to schoolyard stuff like name calling it's obvious that he's hiding his inability to say anything actually insightful and/or important.

Patrick Smith is neither insightful or important.
