If the Herald Sun and Age were worth the paper they're printed on they should be reporting on how the ACCC is being used to settle old scores.

Mm, mm, mm...Let's see, Richard Pratt created a very successful empire which in turn supplied lots of cardboard to other conglomerates (Coles, Safeway, etc); he helped create thousands of jobs to young Australians and by extension, their families; he has given untold wealth to lesser known (but certainly not the least valued) causes to the arts and charities; and he has given so much to Carlton FC, as a player as well as now. And yet, ACCC and other little people will stop at nothing to bring him down.... :garthp:

I understand most clearly that no-one is above the law, least of all R Pratt- however, if this isn't a witchunt of the highest order, then I'll go he....

Deano, QFT- a memo to ACCC: Just do your jobs properly this time- you are only after Pratty because he stopped and allowed you to catch him. Stop wasting taxpayers' monies and go after bigger fish, like the petrol companies, supermarkets, Spotless Catering....well, the list could go on!

Unfortunately, Pratty is a very benevolent philanthropist in more ways than one....

It is still serious whether he goes to jail or gets fined IF he is found guilty -the fact is that it is a criminal charge

Hopefully the charges are dropped OR ULTIMATELY defeated but THIS IS SERIOUS and all the fulminations about other price fixers /the role of the ACCC dont derogate from the seriousness of the charges

Agree.

This is the second time in a week that Elliott has opened his big mouth. Someone should tell him to shut the @#$%&! up...period!

Swann pumping up Pratts tyres (as he should)

Pratt very disappointed.
Standing aside not resigning - presumption of innocence.

Sucks big time but was the only option to take.

I don't know if Pratty's health is 100% and he should concerntrate on beating the charges as privately as possible. Where we're going as a footy club won't allow him to do that.

No respect for the elderly.

Doc, you need to cough up on the grudge between Dick and Samuel.

Notes from press conference...

Greg Swann: Richard Pratt will stand aside, effective immediately, until ACCC matter is resolved. Kernahan to assume interim president's role.

Disappointing development for Carlton, Pratt has made an outsanding contribution to the club. Sixteen months ago Richard answered the club's call, and he was honoured to accept role to serve the club he has supported as player, sponsor and board member.

Has all happened pretty quickly, and it expected Pratt will come back if ACCC issue is sorted quickly.

Players are pretty resilient, very supportive and will continue on in a professional manner.

Judd's ambassador role with Visy is expected to continue, although has not been discussed.

No issue with Visy's corporate support of the club.

Stephen Kernahan: A lot of good stuff happening and we have to keep that going.

Would think that Sticks as interim president is purely political and for show, with him being a club legend and all.

In reality there would be others pulling the strings at th top!

Sticks - Phone off the hook... Carlton people very supportive of Dick.
Swan - not damaging to club

Some stupid questions from the journo's

Demetriou advised.... nothing much else said.

Players resilient and supportive.

Pratt will still be running things.

Sticks will be a great 'face' of the club in the meantime.

Who do you think he will call for advice - and report to.

We don't need anyone from 'outside' with their own agendas.

We have the best people running the club (thanks to Dick), if anything this should bond the club together.
