Some people on here have commented that we'd be better off missing the finals because this would place us in a better position in the draft. I can't see how this can be a serious justification for not wanting to make the finals, or even a concern?

What's the difference between say pick 8 and pick 10? Technically we are better off position-wise but is it big enough a difference to really warrant concern? I don't see how this can be a serious consideration...

Thats true. The difference between say pick 8 and pick 10 isnt massive, especially with this draft having more depth and you can pick up quality players with Pick 70, which we have proven. The experience of playing finals will be much more beneficial.

I think Collingwood will falter as well - at least against the Bulldogs..

All Carlton has to do is worry about beating Essendon*.

Beat the Tigers and the Saints - and then win 3 from 7 or better - and we are in the 8.

Crap percentage is a problem - long time since Carlton has had a percentage over 100.

As for wars - I would suggest that the media coverage in Australia - which because we dont have any better alternative, and is what most TCers would look at - is not really giving the true picture in the Middle East. It is giving a selective and warped view of things.

The war when it happens will be sudden and without much of a warning. It will be normal and peaceful one day - and then a raging war the next..

There will be prior indicators of this - but these wont be reported by our lazy and compromised media at all.

All I have ever said is the Carlton just happens to win a flag during the time of a scary war - its just a coincidence that we happen to come good at that particular time.
