Goddard is a very good player in a very ordinary side

Being drafted by St Kilda has flowered Goddard's career.

Goddard is deifnately the best out of the 3 of them... with Simpson second.

Goddard can hit a target 60 metres out laces out, a rare and impressive skill. Poor kid should be in a Carlton jumper!

Poor decision maker ... should have come to Carlton when he had the chance.

In order of playing ability:

1st: Simpson
2nd: Wells
3rd/4th: Fisher/Goddard

St Kilda is struggling in the mid-field, and they leave Goddard on a back flank.

My suspicion is that if they moved him into the midfield, he'd start to really dominate games. He's strong with excellent skills.

I would take Simmo for his post goal celebrations if nothing else.

I am still trying to work out what he was trying to do after the sealer in Rd 4 against the Pies... :P

You would take Simpson ahead of the others but I'd be keen to get Goddard as I have said many times and given time I think he would prove as valuable as Kade and be part of our next premeirship team.
Goddard is a unit who can kick the footy and play on a variety of players, we dont have a player like him and he would really compliment our playing list. Stkilda have failed to get the best out of him like they have Kossie and its a shame seeing two class players wasting their abilities at a basketcase club like the Saints who wont be successful short/long term.... if ever....

Wells would be a good player at a club like Geelong or Hawthorn who have good lists where he could get on the end of play and finish others good work but he doesnt go hard enough IMO and isnt consistent in his work rate.
Maybe a better coach might have been able to extract something more out of him

Wells has done nothing for his footy club.

You know, if we did get Goddard and Wells we probably would have done a little better and not get Gibbs and Kreuzer...so im glad now those draft picks got taken away.

Goddard is coming to Carlton. He went for us as a kid. Definately coming to Princes Park.

They're probably at a similar level.

Re-phrase the question to 'would you swap Simmo for Goddard or Wells?' and the answer is a lot easier.

Simmo's leadership puts ahead of both these guys and a lot of guys of greater ability.

Simmo has leadership qualities the others don't have at this stage (and which Wells will never have).

I reckon Goddard is on the verge of being a pretty impressive footballer. More impressive than Simmo? Possibly. But only because of his size and kicking ability. Simmo will always be the better on-baller, but Goddard has it in him to be a great all-round player.

Wells is no better at this stage than a Lovett or a Davey. A flashy outside-type. If he was a former rookie like the last two, we wouldn't be having this discussion. But he was taken early, and has that extra burden of expectation. I reckon Wells is a Headland-esque player at his best. Okay in an average team, but if he ever played in a good team... He could be dangerous.

We deserved all four of them!

We did very well with what we had apart from Croad
