Ackland surprises no one, but are Carlton set to burn Hartlett?

Injuries aside, I still think he can play a bit and he is hardly old. Surely he is worth a one year deal.

It's not as if we are flying and chock full of key forwards. We have a long way to go.

We would love to keep him for another year, but some guys will need to be cut and the Houilhan,Bentick,Carrazoo,Wiggins and Bannister haters know all these guys are handy players you do not cut before others.

I think Hartlett is on his 4th Season and has played under 10 games,he will be lucky to get to 5 years when guys like Benji,Austin,Anderson who on their 2nd and Edwards on his 3rd who deserve more time.

I think Carlton will take only 4 spots in the draft and maybe 1 more for the pre season making it 5 and Jamieson will be the 6th spot. 6 Changes.

I don't think any rookie will be upgraded if so maybe Joseph while Ellard and Shields stay as 2nd year rookies.

Is he that bad to not get another year, his only on his 2nd year, not third, that's a bit hard for a later draft pick to crack the AFL after 1 year and 12 weeks into the 2nd Season for a project player. Do people forget back in the 80s he would have been playing Colts under 18 in his first year and possibly reserves in his second.

I think that we have given Hartlett enough chances and he keeps breaking down ... if he can't get back this year, he is screwed.

- Ackland gone
- Aisake gone

Bit harsh to be calling for Benjamin head .. give him a go

No way he will take a spot of someone delisting. His 2 years is up as a rookie so he had to be up graded and just got signed for 3 years so already 1 spot is taken for next year so 1 players delisted for next year already.

So if 6 delistings we will have 5 new players + Jamieson with the others.

Jacobs is in his last of a mandatory two year rookie contract.

Our listed ruckmen:

1. Kreuzer
2. Hampson
3. Cloke
4. Jacobs
5. Aisake.....should be developed for different role (but may go back home)
6. Ackland......gawn

I'd say they'll keep Jacobs if Aisake goes, and will have to be prmoted to the senior list as we were forced to do with Jackson and Aisake at the end of 2007.

IMO:

Jamison to be promoted and replaces Saddington (uncontracted end of 2008)
Jacobs promoted and replaces Ackland
Blackwell will make way for Round 1 draft pick (Top 10)
Wiggins (after playing 100 games for Carlton) will make way for Round 2 draft pick (26)
Aisake (if he goes home) makes room for Round 3 draft pick (36)

Round 4 draft pick (52) and PSD may see any two of Jackson and Ellard, and possibly Hartlett, Benjamin or even Edwards (if they doesn't show more desire and desperation in the next 10 games, and if Aisake is retained).

Of the rookies:

We have to retain Shields.
We have to retain Hill.
We will retain Joseph

Leaving one rookie pick to replace Jacobs.

I have a sneaky suspicion we [Swann-Pratt] are going to snag another prized named trade which may mean relieving a pick & a player. This is what may save a couple of the abovementioned players.

At least 5 changes to be made come seasons end imo; 2 rookie promotions and 3 new draftees.

Jacobs would have to be a cert for elevation. Hill is only a one year rookie contract so he'd want to get a wriggle on. Ellard, Shields and AJ are interstate/international rookies so they get a mandatory 2 year deal.

Ackland
Saddo
Edwards
Blackwell
Jackson
Benji

All gone at year end

Next in line are Harts, Wiggo, Banno & Sake. All are a chance to go also depending on how the rest of the year go and how many we need to delist. I think all should be kept though

There is no way Carlton will delist Wiggins even the footy commentators likes the way he plays. He is only 25,maybe turned 26 surely has 2 more years if he is playing that well. He could even play to 30 until one of the 18 year old take over. I have to say the last couple of weeks he was a big reason we won

Things could change if we give our first pick and Bower and Benjamin for Kerr

Cert for elevation I'm not sure about that, when you have Hampson,Kreuser and Cloke doing the ruck depends on what they need. I don't think they will need another tall guy with no experience who isn't quick but who knows if they will keep him or get another in the draft with experience or not.

I'd be very disappointed if we did this. Judd was a once in a lifetime player, but you can't continue to decimate the club.

I'm not sold on Benjamin and its a worry that he can't demand a permanent game in the magoos. Bower should play for 10 years. First round picks should never be traded, unless we got a gun CHF in return.

Don't reckon Hartlett has played enough games to prove his worth to the side - sadly due to injuries... depends on if the club decides to give him enough time or not...

...funnily enough, if you asked people who would get the chop at the start of this season, most would say Ackland, Blackwell, Banno and Wiggins.

The funny thing is Bannister and Wiggins name aren't coming up now - twelve rounds later. Exonerated?! :-D

Hartlett is the one we'll try to develop into that other forward option. Was already given the position before he got injured.

It would be good if Harts can be our equivalent of Roughead.
