Disclaimer - This is not about DUC oogling the players but a legitimate question.

This has been something I have been thinking about for a while.

Some teams have really tight fitting jumpers that I believe make it very hard to tackle players.

A team in particular is the Lions, with some of their players looking like their jumpers have been sprayed on.

If our players adopted a more tight fitting guernsey, we would be a lot hard to tackle IMHO, that it is worth investigating further.

I still see Lance and Stevens get tackled a lot in their tight fitting jumpers..

Id be appalled to know our guys are just grabbing the jumper to tackle.

Sometimes you just get the jumper if your late to tackle, which is the point of was trying to make.

Alot of players get tackled by the jumper but if our jumpers were nice and tightly fitted, would this still happen?

Probably not. It's been tried in other sports i think mostly rugby and i think there is a small advantage

Until each team plays each other the same number of times, the AFL, as a fair dinkum competition, cannot be taken seriously.

Not right outer81 . every one slips a tackle now and then , even Gibbs . If the jumper is loose it's a hell of a lot easier to hold on .

I remember Tommy Alvin got tackled by the end of his hair at the SCG once. No free kick was paid, because the hair went past the shoulder, hence not a high tackle.

no dis respect to the original topic DUC, it was a good one.

With some of juddy's tackles, he intially goes for the players wrist. Or there abouts effectively causing a more favourable fumble for himself. And of course the logic behind it is skin on skin is easy to mistake who is holding who so the already blind ump would be more inclined to let it go.

Its easier to manipulate a fast players hands then to smash him into the ground for him ONLY to get ahand ball off to a team mate anyway. Wheres your on your feet and an option rather a past play. providing this is keep to rucking contests and your quick like Judd it works.

Also have noticed some players this year are abandoning the smashing type of tackle in favour of them getting a fist to the ball instead trying to knock the ball out before they try to handpass away in the tackle.
