Don't be silly Warby. You can't see any of JR's work on TV. You can only see how shit he is if you're at the game (when you have the advantage of a 200x zoom lens because you're about a mile away in the 2nd level of the Southern Stand) .......

Clokey also got a big knock to yea?

Yeah it was Ben Johnson who hit him and clokey was on the ground for a bit, but just waved off the trainers and made his way to the contest, good on him, shows a lot of heart.

Pros:

1. The kids contribution
2. Beating C'wood
3. In the eight
4. We can play a lot better
5. Our recruitment, guys like Armfield were bargains
6. Still several players to try and fit into side
7. Waite finally released from defence.
8. Betts on ball. Needs to happen more.
9. Ratten making some more attacking moves.
10. The toughness of several players to play through pain.

Cons:

1. Fev - just because he kicks goals doesn't excuse the way he acts and abuses his teammates. Would we tolerate it in other players?
2. Stevens will not be around as we get better. Gets found out in tough games.
3. Our forward line work needs improvement. A lot of times is was stationary as we moved ball. Needs A LOT of work. We will not get away with the lack of scoring we had in the first half against better sides.
4. Standard of umpiring. Getting to touchy.

I'm at the game and call it as I see it. If you watch on TV you won;t see him hesitate cos it's off the screen. But he thinks twice before a lot of contests and therefore arrives late. It's something to improve on.

Don't want to mar our best win in 6 years discussing the intricacies of Russel's game, but if you weren't at the game you wouldn't know.

I was at the game Simon, and I reckon you are being way too hard. I have rarely seen a player improve as quickly as JR, he has gone from a timid overawed player into a guy who tackles well, marks well overhead, and is playing with discipline and endeavour. He has more improvement to come, but I can't believe any Carlton supporter who has followed his career wouldn't be delighted with the steps he has taken

Pros
Great come from behind win when they looked gone
Fev = superstar most of the time (see cons)
Ratts finally got a better structure, looked much better with Fisg closer to goal and Waite forward
Murphy
Judd we have had many great captains, and Judd is one of them, his leadership from the front is superb
Armfield - guts and pace
Kreuzer - wonderful courage and effort
Cloke - yes he is better than Brayn, by about a very long way
Backline solid
Finally, felt like Carlton of old with supporters sending off eraly leavers and singing the song as we all left the ground. Finally we are rebuilding some credibility

Cons
Need someone else up forward apart from Fev - finally when Waite went up there we looked and played better
Fev lost concentration several times, and stood with hands on hips while his opponent ran up field as a loose man, creating several attacks. To be the superstar he should be Fev needs to be switched on all the time
Stevo went for the contested ball with his arm and not his body several times
AB was very good and tough, but he needs to know how deep his kicks are, cost us a couple of times with bad disposal in dangerous areas

Pretty spot on assessment Gerry.

I was actually amazed at the intensity of the send off of the Collingwood supporters in the AFL members. Six years of pain was released.

I'm always amazed when we play Collingwood, at
how outraged they always seem to be about any contest not adjudicated in their favour.

yes, definately agree

he's meant to be a forward (full-forward?) and only has 19 goals. He's over-rated to the max. cameron on the otherhand is having a brilliant season, but hasn't been mentioned in the media.

plus, out of the 12 games, he's scored 1 or less in 7 of those

tough call on a bloke who has come back from a year off footy from a serious neck injury. Also, he doesn't have to be at his blistering best every week as the load is shared with other midfielders. Has attracted some of the best taggers for most of the year, so doing OK if you ask me.

If he is soft because of the injury then he should not be in the side until he is okay. There are other players more deserving of a spot.

Our last eight rounds are pretty tough and we will need to have everybody contributing to stay in the eight.

Today he was disgraceful, had the chance to put body on the line for a teammate on several occassions and pulled out.

PRO -Beat the Carringbush for the second time this year
Agree with other observations but thought Setanta was very good on Cloke today and used the ball a lot better and decision making good
Thorton and Jamison also did well
Seeing the Carringbush supporters leave about 20 minutes into the last
Malthouse complaining about the umpires - when all else fails blame the umpires
Ratten outcoached Malthouse in the last - Fev dare I say it had pagans paddock during the last quarter
Carrazzo and Bentick
Hollywood Fevola
Murphy -BOG
CONS
CHANNEL 7 NOT SHOWING THEME SONG IN THE SHEDS AFTER THE GAME

PROS

Flowering 2 on the trot against the flowering Filth :P :P :P

Murph........Star. He's not too quick, pretty small, but just bloody talented.

Juddy. God that bit of play on the HFF. Next season when he's 100% !!

JR and AB superb last quarters. Very hard at it both of them.

Scooter running with the flight full pelt for 40m into a pack in the last.

Santy take a bow. Not many have sung his praises today, but he was great all day for mine, and hardly a clanger. Backline is his go, end of story.

Armfield a great find. Made Daisy think twice all day.

Fev having a quiet chat to the Filth Ferals behind the goals. GOLD :-D :-D

CONS

After the last 6 years.........ZIP.

channel 7 are bloody hopeless. the ads between goals are too long, so that by the time the game is over there isn't anytime to show any highlights or talk about the game. the players celebrations just get cut out whilst they're on ground

It's the Collingwood way, and it's why they're shit. Their coach and supporters rarely point the finger at the players, it's always someone elses fault.

Yep, spot on. Flowering disgrace. There's been plenty of callers to 3AW etc over the last few weeks bagging them for it, but they've done it again. They had to race off to the news so we could watch a rivetting 3 minute article on the public opening of the Eastern Link. WHO GIVES A FLOWER ??

Gimme Foxtel any day.

con: The retard behind me gobbing off for 7/8ths of the game..(can you guess which 1/8 he wasn't? )

Pro: Gobbing off back at him ...(which I NEVER usually do- especially in front of the kids) he finally shut up and left...and the lady next to him coming to me and saying "I'm sooo glad you did that!"

Pro: The Wiggler's goal

PROs:
** kids
** The dramatic improvement of JR, Wiggo, Bentick, Betts, Grigg
** The morale within the team and never say die attitude.
** The backline standing up despite the pressure.
** Brett Ratten proving he has got what it takes and should have been given the job 2 years ago.
** At last there is competition within the team for spots in the seniors.
** Judd ( just the best player to watch in the last decade)

CONs
- Hampson needs to do more
- Kick ins still look disorganised
- Fev's yips from outside 40m
- We dont get play the Collingwood again this year.
