It was a fantastic tackle on Medhurst. Willed himself to get him.

Another big last quarter.

The next step for Russell is to have a big impact when the team is not playing well.

Another solid game. Worked himself into the contest and tried hard all day. Lays plenty of great tackles this bloke.

That's good. All I am saying is I would like to see a period of play where the team is playing badly and Russell is playing well. Just as an additional indicator.

I'm happy he has improved in the last three weeks. :-D

Very very happy to be wrong. :-D

Great last quarter you mean

Perspective

He had to do something eventually didnt he

Who was his opponent
where was the ball virtually all of the last quarter
Where did Russell play

Very lucky to be playing at all

Overall a disappointment
Had to produce something

Lets not fall into the trap of pumping up players for 20 minutes of footy which was all our way

flower Hell

I dont want to become a club which has names on lockers that are only there because

the club was shit
the list management were dumb

Houlihan is there already
Good on Russell for finally showing something for a whole quarter 8)

But he still has question marks all over him with his kicking and decision making

Its like the Wiggo argument

You play 90 odd games you are going to some good things

Still reckon Wiggo should be delisted at the end of the year

I dont want to become a Richmond which allow the likes of Tivendale and Bowden collectively play 450 odd games.

Lets she Jordan play consistent footy for the rest of the year and play well when the team is struggling

Bit premature Verbs

Heaven help us if Russell plays as well as Bowden and wins two AA jumpers.

I might not read TC again.....

Yep 240 games of non contested footy with half his kicks going sideways

Dual all Australian

No arguments there

overrated though

Bowden is a proven matchwinner 8)

Someone's ass is missing it's clown.....

full credit to ratts on persisting with russell and full credit to russell for working hard to get himself into this position.

ratten was able to figure out that russell needed games and time on ground in those games and he would blossom. he put confidence in him and now we are seeing the benefits. great game again today and similar to simpson a few years ago he is clearly improving every single week, a career-high 18 disposals today at 89% efficiency. he has now gone from someone who was almost certainly gone at the end of the year to someone who is in our best 22 if we had a full team to pick from. great work russ and ratts.

How's the casual swing onto the left foot when he had time to go to his trusty right foot in the last!

Growth.....

Now head down and bum up Jordy, save the reflection for the big break at seasons end to avoid the traffic between the ears.

Funny you should say that, mjonc, I was thinking Judd should be called The Doctor because HE was the last quarter specialist  .

Well done to JR, some mistakes early but batted up for another good last Q.

Jars I understand what you are saying. His disposal is probably better than most give him credit although I would suggest that this is also signs if his improvement. At time though he when we are under the pump he makes the correct decision but his execution fails him badly - today he had an opportunity to put us in space though the centre but his go nowhere handball set them up instead. In saying that though like my fav Wiggo my heart is not in its mouth anymore when he has possession across half back and his tackling and pressure really lifts us across the paddock.

I'm happy he has improved in the last three weeks. :-D

Very very happy to be wrong.

Surely after the last 3 weeks we can give it a rest on this guy - deserved his spot in the team -is happy to sacrifice game for team -plays in a number of positions -is no superstar but is coming along quite well

What Frankie said.

In the end, who cares is he takes a while to develop. Point is he is improving week in week out and is growing in confidence as the team gets stronger.
