Yes, but i believe if stevens had have had a full and uninterrupted pre-season he'd be playing a lot better. even if he does next year, i think murphy will have overtaken him by then.

Stevens was actually quite good today. He wasn't a stand out and did fade in and out of the game, but he did some pretty good things.

The point is not whether Murph is in front of Stevo, it is that we have three bloody guns in Judd, Murph and Stevens. And then we still have the likes of Simpson, Scotland, Bentick, Betts, Carazzo, Russell et al that can be rotated through the middle when it takes our fancy.

Forget the fab four, we'll have the Holy Trinity supported by a cast of thousands.

:-D

It appears Stevens is really missing core strength from his layoff. Has real difficulty shrugging off tacklers (see Judd, Murphy, Bentick)

Hopefully he can hold up for the rest of the year and get that strength back over the pre-season

As for midfielder rankings - yeah: Judd, Murphy, Stevens, Bentick for moi at the moment. Sorry, atm

Stevens was in and out but he kept his head, in a game like that it is what you want from a senior player.

Great game to Smurph and Juddy, but Stevo was there in the end to hurt them.

Stevens was awful today, a couple of his efforts well below par

Well, I think I'll wait to see Walks in the rest of of the season cos I hope he plays midfield and if he does I think he could be anything

*cough* hadley *cough*

Injured I know but we're still listing 1AW.

Get him on the park and it's another ball winner.

On CURRENT form my man Bentick would have to be 3rd behind Judd and Murph.... surely...

He is consistantly getting 25 touches a game, doing the hard stuff and only getting better. I would have AW (when fit) and a Stevens (after a pre-season) ahead of him however.

Something that summed up our midfield depth was the pies taking Shaw off Judd and putting him onto Murphy for the last quarter. Of course Judd then had a field day. Our midfield is quickly becoming one of the best (and potentially THE best) in the comp.

Can't put Gibbs in there because I wouldn't necessarily clasify Gibbs as a midfielder at this stage... I see him more as a icon of the modern game

I've gone off Stevens.... Time to stick Stevens on a half back flank in the Gilbee/H.Shaw-vs-everyone-but-us role and get him the hell away from taggers that are damaging the other way

Yep, AB or Simmo above Stevo for me, at the moment.
He's still very patchy, and they're playing probably their best footy this year.
I was worried when Hadley went down, but AB has provided some real grunt. Love his work. :-)

Judd . Murphy . Stevens . Bentick . Simpson . Hadley in that order for mine . Didn't consider Scotland Gibbs Betts Carazo , because they often play away from midfield . Or Walker until he comes back . [ soon I hope ] . It looks good tho , thats 11 good midfielders we have and Grigg , Armfield will only improve . How things have changed in 2 years !! :-D
