We've played 1 good quarter in 6. We have only beaten Collingwood above us on the table and have to win probably 8 of our last 11 to slip into 8th.

We still have Roos, Swans, Lions, Hawks, Pies, Bulldogs, Crows and Saints to come.

We aren't good enough to make finals this year.

Adelaides next 6 are very tough - they could be in danger of dropping them all -

They have only beaten the Roos from teams in the 8. 7 of their other wins are from the bottom 8.

The best things we've got going for us by far is that i've got absolutely no doubt that the whole team, from Judd down desperately want to make the 8 and prove everyone wrong.

I looovveee there enthusiasm - it's totally contageous and they totally deserve to get there as far as I'm concerned.

Here's hoping, if only for their sake, let alone ours!

Dont know what their thinking exactly but the players keep coming out with the old cliche of 'not thinking about finals' which they probably arent its only halfway through the season

If we make the 8 we'll probably lose first go...its not about finals this year its about development...

there's every chance of it coming down to the final two games. we may well face the proposition of having to win one of the games against the lions up there or hawthorn. very tough assignments. if we get in we are going to have really deserved it. either way to be pushing for the 8 is a giant leap forward and its the young kids that are driving it. no 2004 false dawn this time.

I'd take a first round finals elimination over finishing 9th any day...

...watch us tag the next 4 games, then the lid will be off!!

Yikes! Put that lid back on! We have a long way to go - it's all bonus from here in. Yes it is about development and if the right things get done a place in the 8 can look after itself.

I really think we should get spot 8 only the Kangaroos is the threat and Port Adelaide.

I think St Kilda should fall to pieces, they need to rebuild. Port Adelaide would have to have a great 2nd half of the season, they could do it if they return to playing like last year.

I personally think the 8 teams in the 8 is nearly set,we need to snatch that 8 spot and try getting in the finals and then aim for one win at least.

Could be 92 all over again.

Nope, too late - too late for that. The lids coming off... THE LIDS COMING OFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!111

Nah, it was a little tongue in cheek. You have to say that winning 3 of the next 4 will go a long way towards re-establishing the winning culture back into the side.

I think that this weeks game against the Pies will tell us more about where we are at. A win this week and the winnable games against the Tiges, Dons and Saints could start the wheel in motion and as we all know momentum in this game takes you a long way.

We looked really unfit at the start of the season so I hope Rattens training plan was to have us firing in the second half of the year.

I dont think we will make the finals, again would love to be proven wrong (I think we will have to win either 1 or both of our last 2, but cant see that happening), but when there is life there is hope, and its been 7 years since there has been life!

Clayman that has been documented that Ratts wanted the players to build their fitness, rather than go bang into the NAB Cup to try to win it.

It will make a for an interesting second half of the season. :-D

If we beat Collingwood, we will make big stides as we should topple Essendon* and Richmond.

Pretty even chance against St Kilda.

Sydney are good, Bulldogs are good, Adelaide at AAMI will be very hard.

Repeat performance against Port. Should go close against North.

Lions tough at the Gabba. Hawthorn.

Maximum of 11 wins after all that...to get more would be remarkable.

Finals this year - yes it is possible.

I recommend that from this round forward, people keep all options open - anything is possible for Carlton.

For the record, I never said we would win a flag in 08 - and I never said we wouldnt either - the truth is that I do believe that we will win a flag with these players - but I cant place it exactly.

I also know that this 17th flag is won by a young coach, very early in his career at Carlton - 'Early' might also mean the first year of his career - but one would reasonably think that this is unlikely...

I know that it occurs during a time when there is a serious war in the world - which is also a conflict which has a serious economic effect on everyone.

What we need to understand is that any Middle Eastern Conflict from now onwards will have a sudden and very dramatic effect on oil prices - $2 to $4 per litre would be very likely outcomes with a serious war nreaking out between Israel and Iran, the US and Iran - or even Iran trying to annex Iraq.

All of these wars are very possible - even likely - right now - It was only yesterday that Israel stated that it would not allow Iran to have a nuke and would attack it (a possible war which would also involve Syria). Israel has about 100 muclear bombs..some even say 400..

If you know your old testament you will also know of a prediction concerning Syria, and in particular Damascus - which is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth - but this prophecy refers to a future time when no one lives there at all - and the city itself is uninhabitable......

Isaiah 17:1 Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins.

because nothing in the past has occurred to make Damascuc uninhabitable - this prediction must refer to a future time.

Many believe that this is an unfulfilled prophecy which speaks of Damascus being struck by a nuclear bomb.

Israel has satelites that fly over Syria and Iran taking eye in the sky pictures every 90 minutes or so - so they are ready to launch missiles if they feel the need to do so.

Such an event would be very sudden and would also cause a massive surge in oil prices to levels that would bankrupt many (which is also why I frequently warn people that we need an alternative fuel ASAP in Australia)

So, the increase in global tensions do mean that from my point of view, we are also close to the time when Carlton wins a flag.

.
