The 2nd one looks like a cheerleaders outfit.

The first one is much better.

they are actually quite good. I'd have either of them over the current one.

Who did you pinch them off? :P

I hate the white. It does NOT look good on our players at all. I like those Melvey. I like the second one best. An email to the CFC would be good with those pictures. Good job.

Not bad, perhaps swap the white and blue so the monogram is in white?

Please.

No encouragement that we want an alternative jumper.

No matter what the design.

I repeat; NO MATTER WHAT THE DESIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like them both, Melvey.
If you change the white for yellow, we have something like the jumper we wore 100 years ago. Maybe you can try that and see how it looks. Not bright canary yellow, though.
I'd be happy to see them run out in those, just the same.
I also like the current one so maybe I'm easy to please...

I, like the rest of you, have softened in my opposition to alternative jumpers.

My issue is in 25 years time when they roll out the footage of yesterdays great come back that we wont recognise the our club in those white jumpers.

As much as i disagree Alternative jumpers they are hear to stay. Its just a shame so many clubs get them wrong like the Melbourne jumper the other week.

If there to be alternative stripes at least get it right and im not saying the design i came up with is the right option but i feel we need to get it right if the AFL going to force this upon us all or be hit the a 100k fine.

And if ALL clubs had the guts to stand up and say no to the alternative idea, this would be a non-issue.

And they won't when the AFL is currently handing out funds to several clubs to help keep them afloat or the Swanns and Lions to ask the AFL for an increase in there salary cap.

Or when Collingwood have so much power with the draw or force other teams to wear horrible alternative in return for better gate receipts

If all the clubs had the foresight to see the benefit in it then it would be a non-issue.

Many other major sporting leagues around the world have alternate strips and it works.

We're only different because our clubs on the whole aren't real bright.

I think it'd be much easier to accept if the ruling was Home & Away strips rather than alternate.

Home games you wear dark, away games light.

Seeing your team in a guernsey 11 times a year rather than 4 would develop more of an affinity with it.

That's the way it should be.

I was discussing the issue of alternative stripes with an employee of an leading marketing agency yesterday afternoon. She believes that the AFL may have conspired to create this so called massive issue in football for the purpose of forcing several clubs to create alternative identities. Basically the introduction of alternative stripes is planned to loosen clubs of there identities or lower the value of there brand which makes the relocation of several clubs easier to rebrand in a new market place.

Again we find ourselves being forced to wear that white insipid alternative stripe by the AFL today. I understand the club had the jumper designed and approved by the AFL as an alternative stripe for season 2008. I for one prefer us not to have a all white alternative jumper but from what I understand the AFL are holding firm on this and again, will force all AFL clubs submit alternative stripes for season 2009

I can't stand the all white jumper our team runs around in. I took the time out this afternoon to design several alternative jumpers though, i realised it's not as easy as it seems. I have no idea how to display them on here but I plan on sending the designs to the club.... So would anyone know to whom i should send them to??

Melvey,

West Cost, Freo, Adelaide, Port Adelaide, Brisbane all have alternative strips, where does your "marketing Guru" think the AFL will relocate these clubs to?

The "Other sports" argument is specious.

Look at the NRL. They don't wear the same jumper more than 2 or 3 times in the same season. More often than not, I can barely tell which teams are playing, so often do they change.

Besides, we all know which design for an alternative is the best.....(And talked about in The Age)

You're listing an extreme.

Each club should have two guernseys. One 'dark' and one 'light'.

Dark is worn for home games.

Light is worn for away games.

For the Collingwoods and the Essendons of this world, if you don't wear or come up with an appropriate guernsey, you can't get hold of premiership points.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

This is only an issue because the AFL is cowered by belligerent clubs riddled with self-interest.
