Pros
The old pro Judd led the young pros by example.
Gibbs...have not been sold on him but I am now, along with Judd was BOG and it was his attack on the footy and the way he put his body in and took it to Chad Cornes......and by the way CHAD CORNES..YOU WERE WRONG

Murphy...played the old fashioned rovers game.....got plenty of the footy and showed super stamina.
Grigg....last quarter threw his body in and knocked the ball out which resulted in a goal.....great work and he should be a fixture in the team...reminds me a bit of Jordan Lewis.

Russell......ok game up until 3/4 time and then played his best footy for the club in the last quarter...strong and hard at the footy and took some good marks and made good decisions..

Kruezer.....overdue but glad to see Brett Ratten playing him forward and he did the business and really showed he will be a major factor in the clubs revival...

Cons...
Didnt win too many hitouts vs Lade and Brogan but Judd offset that.
Fev was silly and might cop a week...

Really sweet enjoyable win after Chad Cornes comments and nice to see Karma coming back to bite him and probably the best version of the clubs song sung by the boys I have seen and heard for ages....

Impossible for him to cop a week for that. There was really nothing in itand the last time I said that he didn't get cited.

Have faith in that THERE WAS NOTHING IN IT!

Winning a game when we only played for a 1/4.

One day this group will put four 1/4's together and downright embarrass someone.

I hope it's Essendon*. Or St Kilda. Or Collingwood. Or someone else.

Pros - The little things.

Could be the signature win this group needed. Port were gunning for us after Fev's comments and despite home ground advantage we took there best and still won.

Griggs - tap between 3 port defenders. He was more desperate for the ball. Well done Shaun.. You are coming along beautifully.

Carazzo and gibbs - Launching themselves to touch the ball on the line to save certain goals.

Judd coming off for a rest when the stretcher came on. Helped him play the whole quarter.. Dont know who thought of it, but would not be surprised if Judd made the call himself.

Jarrod Waites run from defense.

Kreuzer winning the game. Dont care how may others have had NRS nominations before him, he is the only one to win a game. None of the others have done that

JR's second half after his abysmal first half. Could have easily dropped his head

Cons-- Dwayne Russell.Spent time talking about how good Motlop & Rodan & Pearce were. Bar for a small cameo from Rodan, the other 2 were woeful. Absolute waste of he is.

Umpires.....they were abysmal.

Critical errors...3 or 4 of Ports goals came straight from our errors. They did not create anything, despite what Dwayne Russel was saying. For us to contend, we need to get rid of these stuff ups.

At half time of the Richmond v Adelaide game the geniuses on MMM were almost unanimous that Cotchin was No 1. James Brayshaw was the only voice of reason, but the way Gary Lyon was crapping on, I'm surprised Kruezer didn't fall to pick 18 so the Cats could have picked him up instead of Harry Taylor.

Cotchin will be a champion though, just won't experience any team success.

This is what i wrote earlier today............

What i'd like to see today.........

Quote:
1.Fevola have a nig impact and kick at least 5+.
Buddy Franklin is easilly the superstar forward of the comp at the moment and although he has some of the best feet in the comp delivering pin-point passes to him which makes it so much easier to kick bags of 7,8 & 9, Fevola is now 19 goals behind him on the leaderboard.
For Fevola to catch up and have a Coleman Medal shootout war which comes down to the wire would be awesome to watch.

Well, didn't happen and Fev probably had a night he'd rather forget. But i still love him.

Quote:
2. Judd to be played in similar style to rounds 1-5.
Play him in 10-12min bursts, then rest him for a bit. He's no good to us burnt out. No doubt, Cornes will tag him....... which could be in our favour. Judd can take it easy and keep Cornes away from the action.........

I thought they rested Judd quite well tonight, especially taking advantage of the injury time in the last!

Quote:
3. Setanta on Treadrea.
flower HIM UP IRISH!

I thought he had a pretty good game and came up with some great spoils. Did anybody see how loudly and proud he sung that song after the match????????

Quote:
4. Some play through the centre.
Far to often i see us only playing wide and far to often i see the opposition reading this to easy and having men in the area we're kicking too before our players are even there. Try some run through the centre.

It's what won us the game! :-)

Quote:
5. No More Stop-Tempo-Footy.
I hated it. It made me sick to my stomach and although Ratts argues that the tactic worked cause we only went into the break a few goals down........ we got anal-raped in the 3rd qtr...........which clearly proved it didn't work.
Ratts is not earning any fans or respect by playing football like that.

While we wern't as bad as last week, we did seem to be lost at times with our choices. Gotta recitify this if we wanna play finals.

Quote:
6. Some certain players to take some acountability.
Fisher (who i love) Russell & need some pressure put on em. To me, it's like they're playing KNOWING that their spot is safe. Jordan Russell has played 38 games yet has kicked a piss-weak 5 goals????? Steven Browne has only played 6 games and has already kicked 4. Ditto Pffifer.
Fisher is a beautiful mark, one of the best in the business IMHO and averages around 10 per game. But it doesn't mean shit if you can't kick for goal. 10 goals from 9 games isn't a good enough return from a forward.

JR was crap......... and nobody can tell me otherwise. Gave up 2, maybe 3 goals and was just plain crap...........then, at the 3/4 time huddle, he found something....... and i absolutly LOVED what i saw. Coming from the biggest Anti-Jordan Russell fan, that's really putting his performence in the last qtr into perspective. Now, go do it for 4 qtrs!~

Quote:
7. Leave Cloke at CHF for the game.
I gave this guy so much shit when he first came to Carlton. Jesus i hated him. But i am man enough to own up and appologise to him now. He has worked his ass of for us and is now in my top 5 for the year. His attitude and determination should be watched by some others at this club (and some names who i mention above).
We've been clearly SMASHED in the ruck this year yet our clearences are fairly good. So rotate Kreuzer & Hampson in the ruck (it's what we're training em for) and leave Cloke at CHF..... a position we are struggling to fill ( and Fisher is not up to it).
DID YOU SEE THE LACES OUT PASS THAT HE KICKED TO FEVOLA LAST WEEK? Brilliant stuff!

I thought Cloke was pretty good tonight.

Quote:
8. Marc Murphy to get back in the game.
Probably still favourite for the B&F but the last 2-3 games have been a bit of a let-down. C'mon Marc.......

Thanks Marc........ i love you! Best game in the Navy Blue!

Quote:
9. Carrazzo to be used in more of a Defensive role.
Similar to the AWESOME job he did on Farmer. I dunno..... maybe put him on Rodan (who is a forgotten problem and one that should not be given any space).

Carrazzo played a team role tonight.

Quote:
10. SHOW SOME BALLS AND TARGET CORNES.
flower him up for what he said this week. Rough him up and get him angry. Put the preasure back on them.

STICK THAT UP YOUR ASS CORNES.............. EASY WIN MY DICK!

Simple. Mick Malthouse method. If Kreuz doesn't get it this week (which I agree he should), Ratts pulls a Mick & "mentions" it to the journos & BANG - Kreuz will have his RS veeeeerrrrryyyyy soon.

The biggest plus i got out of the game was some glimpses from Shaun Hampson.Thought he competed all night.Reckon he tired out Brogan and Lade to the point that they were innefective in the crucial last quarter. An unsung hero in our win............think about it guys!!!!!!

Oh and anyone calling Grigg soft, just take note of who setup the second goal for Kreuzer, beat 3 Port players to the loose ball and copped a massive whack, but got up and kept playing. ARMY AWARD NOMINATION!!

I don't know about you - but I saw Grigg all night tonight - that was a Special Effort Ox.... And when I wasn't seeing Grigg - it was Browne.....
Amazing game from the young guys - and that Army is gonna be a keeper for sure!!

Pros for me:

JUDD - holy crap - he is amazing- and I have to say - back at quarter time in the Collingwood match, I was thinking I didn't know whether he'd be able to help a team in our situation....

GIBBS
MURPH when he settled
FISH! I've been saying a lot that I want goals out of him - but an effort like that will be fantastic every week, thanks!! :)
ARMY - liked him a lot
Waite - boy - that big roost was fantastic
KREUZE - uh huh - legend in the making
HAMMER - Ruckman in the making....
Cloke - Carlton Hero in the making.... :)

And our clearances... Like I said somewhere else - love to strengthen our ruck bona fides, but I'll take making best use of all ruck ball for now...

Cons:
Fev-centricity.... As Frawley called tonight - he is so demanding a presence that we head to him - but as verbs said about the Dream team game - any team is going to be Fev Centric. Fevcentricity doesn't kill us - having the alternative targets ot make use of it does.... :)

Some of our early play was too confused - we need to settle without the skipper having to lead us there....
Edited to say PRO - WIGGOOOOOOO!!! Man - he's a lynchpin of our team now....

Pros:

1. To borrow a line from the real Barack Obama, our kids think "yes we can!", even if they are 5 goals down at the last change, in the wet, playing away. They're gonna be great when their bodies and skills catch up to that self-belief.

2. Our three no. 1 picks all played like no.1 picks in the same game:

- Gibbs was a class above when we were a rabble for the first 3 quarters.

- Kreuzer pretty much won the game.

- Murph is a little champ even if he does have the occasional Barry Crocker. Loved when he won the next contest and got the kick awway after his turnover in the last.

3. Erasing lots of bad records this season. We've won in Perth and Adelaide. When do we play the Lions at the Gabba?

4. The tanking stigma will follow someone else this season. No conflicting emotions for the rest of the season. Yay!!

Cons:

1. We're still lining up with a forward line consisting of Fev with four opponents and Brad Fisher. The mind boggles. And then it still took Ratts three quarters to figure out it wasn't working

2. We can't even spell "wet weather football" let alone play it.

3. Carrazzo taking kick-outs. What's all that about?

4. Fisher needs a run in the magoos but we don't have the forward option to drop him.

5. Thornton may have played a good game on Motlop, but he could have stopped the first two goals if he had any desperation and was prepared to smother. Harden the flower up princess

If anything the Port medical staff should've been reported because their "rough conduct" in trying to drag the guy off, was way worse than what JR did.

Agree. They just report those things because therewas contact to the head.

I know we've cracked down on head high contact and thats a good thing, but he really contributed to it more than JR.

PROS:

A kid (Kreuzer) swung the game our way ... he didn't kick 3 goals in a quarter when we were 100 points up, but rather kicked 3 goals in a quarter when we were down and not one was a cheapy ... one goal was a strong pack mark, another from a hard lead and the next from outside 50. I hope this encourages the team to break up the type of ball we are playing into 50 ... there is still room in this game for the long bomb.

Our lines really supported each other in the last quarter ... when a Carlton player looked in trouble he got out of trouble because a team mate made the effort to get across and help out

The Judd leadership way ... push, push, push ... find that little extra

Like what I have seen thus far from Armfield ... hits the ball running

Good for team comraderie when you win interstate

CONS:

We stuff up some good passages of play with some terrible decisions and kicking. On top of this we gave away some easy goals through poor vision and decision making.

We still lack balance in our forward line ... lacking smalls/mediums with a strong first point of contact with the football and goal sense.

A mate of mine who lives in Adelaide said the radio commentators over there did not announce the Carlton goalkickers or best players after the game.

Our first three quarters were ordinary
