The relevance being that we're now a club that gives a flying @#$%&! about members and memberships.

We weren't until recently.

Or is that not relevant to a thread on membership... :?

Nice touch with the little kid getting presented the 40,000 membership from the players.

Ditto....couldn't have said it better myself.

Most junior members = Most future adult members.

I hope the AFL change the finals ticketing system....cos we'll be fighting for tickets to the 17th premiership in 2010 !!!
Unless you want to upgrade to Gold Social Club to be guaranteed a ticket.

Congratulations to all those involved. Best of luck to the kid. This is so much better than the bloody welcome home sheedy crap membership. It may not have the publicity as Essendon*'s, but I think it is by far the best. Did you see the kids face in the video. Worth it's weight in gold.

I have a Richmond buddy who tells me how powerful (member terms)Richmond will be when they start winning games.

The Blues are not winning games and we have 40,000 members. Imagine how big we will become when we start winning games. 50,000 members is easily achievable and sponsors will be jumping at the chance to give us their money.

Germie Brereton said on SEN that the Dawks had 40k too.

They signed Rover the seeing eye dog as their 40 thousandth member

There's truth in that - a stack of their members have signed up pets. I was at a wedding when the die hard father of the groom who has been involved at Hawthorn from everything outside of board level simply drank too much before his speech, went on about the Hawks and mentioned how a number of members wont ever see a game because they were too furry. Was gold! he was wound up quick after that - another guest who is a board member, in the room was not happy...

We are still rising to our rightful spot.

Members of CFC are proud of its history and proud to buy a membership.

There are many thousands of past members yet to renew for their own reasons. Perhaps if the petrol prices and interest rates reduce financial stress on working class Blues supporters they will return.

In the meantime, we have another month to add a few more thousand.

A win against the reigning premiers should ensure some of the hysteria the current list has created will spread amongst the faithful yet to sign up.

The future bodes well when we consider the 7-9K baby blue, interstate and other Blues members are not counted in the 40,000 figure.

God help the footy public when those members (not counted) are part of the AFL figure and we are fixed in the top 4, brushing aside those in our way of the Grand Finals we are traditionally expected to be competing for.

We are indelible. We know.

Thankyou fellow Bluebaggers.

Thanks for that IBleedBlue

add that 10K to the 40,000 and all the Blue members grrofunger refers to...probably another 5K and then there's the old members yet to resign.........

man we're looking at 60,000 members and a permanent posting at the MCG.

That's triple the membership of the Dees. Past the Filth ......that makes the G ours, as well as September....may as well add a few more flags to that given the support the players will get.

We are coming back from the grave!

Demetriou, Chamberlain, Eddie, Kennett, Wilson, TFS, Balme....welcome to your nightmare!

any news on how we're tracking now? our target pre-season was to break collingwood's victorian record (41 thousand something). unless collingwood have broken that record again we shouldn't be too far off either.

I've got a horrible feeling they (or Essendon*) will have got there first. It's horrible, even with everything that's happened we still can't get ahead of these pricks. Personally, I think Eddie buys another 1000 or so memberships himself anytime we get close.

Essendon* are YET TO hit 40,000 .............

there tally is flawed as it counts NON match day Members

ONLY collingwood , carlton and hawthorn have broken 40,000 in Victoria Essendons real figures are closer to 35,000 than 40,000

:P ALSO hawthorns membership includes the TASMANIAN core , which is still impressive ..

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/a ... 14787.html

HAWTHORN has signed 40,000 ticketed members, the club announced yesterday, making it just the third Victorian club to pass the milestone.

Collingwood and Carlton also passed 40,000 ticketed members this year, and Essendon* has topped that number, though not all of its are ticketed members.

Ticketed members are given access to games, while non-ticketed are regarded as a pledge of support.

so clearly BETWEEN Carlton and collingwood for NUMBER 1 vic club

Carlton is the No 1. team in victory, not the scum or the filth. We have the best history.

Collingwood has been the understudy to the Carlton Football Club for 100+ years now and will continue for the next centuries upon centuries. We pity them but also laugh at their continued failures. Fukn cauliflower!

@#$%&! off collingwood scum

CARLTON FC NO 1

That's a fantastic result as I don't think I have heard of registeration exceeding the limit.
