I'm a bit worried about this line:
Quote:
Junior members who have unfortunately missed out on a space and have already submitted a registration form by mail will be contacted.

Whilst I appreciate that membership has been very successful, I don't think it's a great idea to start turning away junior members.
(yes, I have registered and taken the day off work already and if I get a "you can't make it" letter, kids and I will be mighty p%%% off).

The success of increased membership shouldn't become a negative for members, people will disappear as quickly as they came.

(For the record we've been members for years!).

I would URGE the club NOT to send out letters saying "Thanks for being a member, but you can't come"....

kids would rather be there even if they are kicking their own footy around and not in specific drills....some innovative thought is required here...C'mon Blues (and Swanny!)

Gee, this will kill my young fella if he doesn't get a guernsey. He was rapt when he got the letter/invitation.

They can't knock them back - put on a spill day. C'mon Swannee - don't bugger up the next generation of Blues fans.

Isn't the article implying that if you have registered by mail and the clinic has subsequently been fully subscribed, you will be contacted? Ie if you have received a confirmation letter, everything is sweet.

Btw, I do acknowledge what billc3 is saying about turning away junior members...

Don't think anyone has received confirmation yet Lowey.

I'm sure it's saying that of those who have sent their form in, there will be kids that miss out.....and herein lies a BIG problem.

The Blues Clinic is the Big social event for the school holidays...not only will kids be gutted, but kids can turn off if they feel they are missing out. Seen it happen with others.

(Keep in mind that some junior members have Gold reserve seats)

Fair enough. I think I am guilty of misinterpreting WBY post about letter/invite. I take it that it was a letter inviting to attend the clinic, not a letter confirming.

Lowey, you were wrong...again.

Lowey, it was just an inivitation - you had to rsvp to be considered. My 4yo spent ages writing in the detail and his member number. He's stoked when anything from the club comes in the mail.

He got a birthday card the other day from Judd and Stevens and is convinced they'll turn up at his party.

 Hope they do!

You can't underestimate the importance of this stuff to the kids committment (particulalrly when like mine half the mates are Saints supporters and are badgering mine to turn!)

Thank God! The registration wrist bands arrived in the mail.

I wonder if this was a furphy by the club so that people wouldn't just lob up on the day (..and I've seen tons do it).

I hope that all who registered get in and I hope the club hasn't turned anyone away...
Did anyone get a "sorry you are missing out " letter?

We've managed to win a berth Bill - phew. I'd primed the young fella up to be aware that he may miss out - but everything is right in the world.

Looking forward to it - it is a blast and the players are very good with the kids.

They are always great days! I'm also working on the logic that by the time my kids have kids the only interaction they'll have with players will be on the sidewalk whilst an entourage of black limos drives past.

Glad to hear you made it WBY, makes me think this is more about "please don;t show up on the day expecting to get it" rather than knocking back people who actually registered.

************BUMP******

Looks like the weather will be so-so for the Kids Clinic tomorrow.

Hope as I said in previous post no-one has missed out.
Fingers crossed I'll be around at training too...dOh! Just realised no training!

Ah well...may be some fun stuff to report!

I tried to register 3 weeks ago and was told that I had missed out over the phone. Kids were not happy, I had a day's leave lined up and I normally take the kids to this one. I left my call a little late I guess so it's all my fault but it wouldnt have been a problem in previous years. Guess the kids will have to wait another year.

Same with me, but with this wind at the moment, its not as upsetting as it was

They just showed some footage of the kid's clinic on Ch 9.

Fev and Judd were no shows but My Smurph was there in the wet with the kiddies.

there was an interview with Marc Murphy who was looking hot! on channel ten news. They also showed Bryce Gibbs helping out with the kids. Fev was at the presentation of the children bravery awards.
