Guys sorry to bring back bad memories (for those of you who can remember back that far - I sure can) but it is 17 years ago today when we lost to Footscray and only kicked 1 goal. If memory serves correct it was a pretty decent kick by Mark with a heavy ball......thank goodness he kicked it or else we would never have lived that one down.

I was standing on the wing sort of beneath the coaches 'box/lookout post - basically a little room on top of a ladder.

In the first few minutes of that game Minton-Connell kicked a goal that was disallowed - sounds stupid but things could have been a whole lot different that day, was a bloody heavy ground and the first goal was vital.

I think David Parkin was quoted during the Coaches Press Conference:

"We set out with one goal in mind today - and we achieved our aim".

Please don't remind me of this. The following day at School, everywhere I went kids were yelling out at me '1 goal'.

There was an even wetter one later that year (or the next) against Fitzroy at Waverly where the Carlton boys basically played soccer all day - didn't even bother to try pick it up.

There was a pimply faced uni student sitting in his college room listening to that match that day. Swearing a lot.

I can rember standing in the outer at that shit hole on many a cold June, July or August Saturday (We always seemed to play there in those months) & we always kicked a low score.

The only solice was buying a "Dagwood Dog"
