Carlton could be poised to rest young ruckman Matthew Kreuzer after admitting last year's top draft pick has shouldered a huge workload in his debut AFL season.

Kreuzer has played eight games in succession, and during that stint the 19-year-old has been used in the ruck, in the forward line, and in Saturday night's loss to Geelong at Telstra Dome, in defence...

Fair enough - the kid's got a long career ahead of him so lets not push him too hard until he breaks down. Certainly in terms of this season I think it's a fair call.

Probably another player comes to mind in terms of someone who could have a couple of weeks off, if not longer. Any guesses??

I would've rested him this week personally, he's been looking a bit tired for quite a few weeks now. But if we're going to rest him we should give him a real rest and give him the week off.

Agreed.

Waste of time him playing VFL level.

He was rested a few weeks ago when there was the wanky allstars game

Would rather see him get his hip right for next year.

The match committee will do what's best.

But I liked his performance for the brief period he was put in the back line. Maybe he can be used there in place of Bower next week?

Give him a rest from playing footy - a week off this week and then back for the Filth and then another week off leading into the split round.

Agreed, he was disciplined and kept touch on his opponent when handed the task. Some of the more senior players would do well to take a look at how he went about it.

He looks like he could do with a rest.

It would also be really nice if he could have a run in the twos at some point and pick up 20-25 possessions and just go out there and enjoy himself.

It's been tough going so far, I think he'd benefit from playing in a game in which he could dominate.

Yeah? Well I said he needed a rest after I saw him at the draft camp.

I cannot understand the move of resting him. The kid had a break during the state of origin match and is going to get another in a couple of weeks. Why do we need to give him another now? :?
If we are killing the kid by playing him in the ruck week in week out then I am and will be pissed off with the match committee. There is no reason to give him a rest unless we have incorrectly flogged him.

Big bloke. Not a big pre season. Hard position. Id give him a week off and then a week in the tooz. No need messing with his head playing him when he worn out.
