Pros:
We played alright, in patches, for the first half.
Dennis Armfield showed plenty.

Cons:
We were not intense enough for long enough.
Third quarter was bloody woeful.
Pauly Bower's injury ... anyone know how bad it is?
I could go on...

:x

Just not in their league. And not their size either - boys against men. We are a 10-13 side and that's about it.

PROS

1. Judd - would've lost by 100 without him but he gets smashed (more on this later)

2. Cloke - has a real dip. First quarter was great. If everyone had his attitude we'd be more competitive

3. Simmo - was scared he broke his wrist but he runs all day and provides.

4. Armfield - great debut

5. Grigg - showed some ok signs

CONS

1. We got physically smashed - we got hit so hard, and the players would be so sore tonight that I think it will actually impact our performance next week. They hurt us. We had 6 or 7 players come off with injury concerns, they had none.

2. A few amateur things
a) Protecting JUDD - why do we let Judd get smashed continually. Nobody puts a block on for him against Ling
b) Tagging Ablett - why is Judd surround by 8 rough minders but Ablett can run amok in an open field. Poor coaching
c) Letting guys that can;t kick take kickouts (17, 44) - honestly, what a waste

3. Stevens - just does not chase. Bartel led him 10 metres into our D50, takes a mark, then Stevo sprays young Browne who is trying his guts out. PATHETIC. Then Hampson outchases him when they were both chasing Varcoe. PATHETIC

4. Bower's injury - thornton, jamo now bower - the backline can;t take a trick with inuries.

5. Murph - Murph I love you, but if you're down just 3% in your effort against a top side it will show. Long hard look in the mirror young man. You'll bounce back.

We're gonna finish on 6-8 wins. I hope its 7 or 8. Missing out on Natinui for 2 wins over Melbourne will suck.

Con:
We are the only team that refuses to tag Ablett.
Last time i checked you try and stop the oppositions best player...not let him run around chopping us up.

Pros -

I can't wait to see some of the cons here.

We got smashed by a very good team, on the rebound from what was, for them, a very embarassing performance last week.

They kicked inaccurately, and that kept us in the game for the first half.

Pros:- Our players will develope and we will be a good side.

Cons:- when this happens i am worried we wont have enough magic around the goals to be premiership side.

Pros:

1. Armfield. Loved that run in the final quarter.
2. Showing some spirit in the fourth quarter (even if it was junk time).
3. Cloke in the first half.

Cons:

1. Third quarter.
2. Could argue it was the equivalent of a 100 point loss, given Geelong's very poor conversion from set shots.
3. Carazzo. Not a bad game but just does not impose himself into the contest. The question has to be asked: Was 2007 his high water mark?

Geelong had 22 players who were prepared to put their collective heads over the footy at every contest .

Carlton had 5 or 6 players who are selective (read that as SOFT) at crucial times and as aresult we will never improve until those players change their attitude or we move them on.

Sad but True.

Regards Cazzesman

gibbsy's class
bentick performing against quality opposition
browne, grigg
cloke

cons:
murph's worst game ever i reckon, but he will bounce back

Pros:

- 56 points ain't as bad I thought it would be.
- Armfield
- Cloke as a prospective CHF looked good.
- When we bridge the 2 years, 40 game gap the result will be the other way around.
- Joey should get a run next week.

Cons:

- The normal suspects lack the skill against the top teams.
- Only Thornton left from our best back 6.
- We will struggle to get up physically for next weeks game interstate.

Pros: Armfield made an excellent debut, fast, desperate and willing to take the game on. 3 from 3 for Hughes in last years national draft on tonight's evidence.

Thought Fev beat Scarlett - we didn't have one disposal inside our 50 in the 3rd quarter, with the ball only going in 6 times. Not much he can do about that. As usual a couple of excellent leads only to see the ball sail over his head.

It may not be everyone's opinion, but I kind of enjoyed the last 5 or so minutes of the 2nd quarter, partly cos it got the idiot next to me nice and angry. Cats were threatening a run on and we managed to not only hold them out, but got one back. Heart in mouth stuff though. Could have used it more in the third.

Still have Hadley, Walker, Waite, Jamison, Bannister and Houlihan missing.

Cons: 3rd quarter was as soft as we've been for a while and was especially disappointing considering our statements during the week.

Bower's injury and the pathetic effort by Stevens to not stand the mark when PB was clearly incapacitated, allowing Johnson to stroll in for a goal. Too many times each game when I'm glad he wasn't made captain.

Re Judd: Ratten need to get a tape of today's game and watch how Akermanis is used/uses himself. I think Diesel was on the money.

pros: armfield, gibbs, browne continued improvement
cloke
judd
effort (could have been sustained a bit more but it was there)

cons: bower's injury
rucks
carrazzo, fisher and scotland's poor form
russell needs time in the 2s

don't be worried too much about tonight. we got geelong at the worst possible time and percentage does not matter one bit for us. we did well to keep fighting in the last quarter. i'd rather come 13th on the same points as the team that came 10th, we still would have won the same amount of games just meas we'll be getting 3 choices earlier for every round in the draft.
