I'd give him 4. Hell, at our worst he's a 60+ goal forward.........we haven't seen him when we're out our best.

While we're at it, give 4 years to Murphy also.

at our worst he kicks 60 goals and the team kicks 80 for the year - im not sure thats the best way to go forward and is worthy of 4 years

i know its not all his fault that we have no other options and our midfield keep kicking it to 3 on 1 etc

but if a trade came about that could help solve the forward line issue that saw fev go - it must be considered.


especially if fev bought us an experienced forward option and 2 more picks

I'd give him four years, if he adheres to the following:-

1. No drinking.
2. Curfew of midnight.
3. No extra marital affairs.
4. No yelling at team-mates because they don't kick it to you.
5. No footy show appearances.
6. No other media appearances.

I could be convinced of the merits of a 3 yr deal - cant say I'd be comfortable with a 4 year deal though

I'd suspect that lyon didnt realise that houlihan was out with a long term injury at the time of writing the article.

I reckon Ackland and Saddington will be removed from the list come season's end. Houlihan probably won't play again this season. He will be retained for 2009, and beyond depending on how he recovers from his injury.

The Fevola that played against Freo on Saturday was not a bloke to whom you'd offer a four year deal; one oft-mentioned chase in the last quarter (shouldn't we expect these from forwards in modern footy anyway?), and of course that soccer goal, are not enough on which to hang your footy hat.

Bad Fev returned, with plenty of disinterested strolling and juvenile posturing going on while the play was still underway. Most noticeably for those at the game, in the third quarter we won possession of the ball on the defensive side of the square, only to see Fev walking, hands on hips, along the half-forward flank, seemingly either oblivious or too preoccupied with something else entirely to care. The actions of a bloke busting a gut to impress and justify such a long-term commitment?

Yep, for the most part, Fev's been terrific this year, and when he's on song he's a genuine match winner, the ultimate indulgence... but every now and then we get a glimpse of Bad Fev, and he's not the sort of bloke you'd 'marry' with a four year contract - he's more, dare I say, a regular but volatile shag who you string along a little to keep interested - all the while keeping a little distance to protect yourself if and when things get out of hand.

Two years, with the option of a third based on performance and behavioural incentives...

I'm not convinced either...but Mark Kleimann is a bigger snake than Dave Alison. The answer should be that the Club doesn't do more than 3 year deals - the exception to the rule is Judd - but in NFL terminology - he's our 'Franchise Player'. A 4 year deal would be stupid...sign the guy until he's 30...no more.

isn't negotiating fun......... before this contract is signed you are going to hear all kinds of ridiculousness. let's not get too carried away with the bull$h!t sprouted by the media. there are only 2 players in this game that actually know what is going on. fev and his management, and the club. don't validate these flower journo's who have absolutely no idea

I can see Fev wanting a 3 year deal and the club agreeing to it as by then he qualifies to go on the veteran's list and half his contract does not count towards the salary cap. So the contract can be backended to give him and the club security. Give him 2 years with a performance based third year with provisos on performance both on and off the field.

Not taking anything away from other players but i'd like to see these guys get signed up ASAP please.

Give Murphy a 3 year deal! If he aint signed soon, clubs will be GUNNING for him (if they aren't already) and it'll only make things harder.

I'd actually offer him the Vice Captaincy for next season. He's earn't it!

Cam Cloke has exceeded everybody's expectations and anything short of a 2 year contract would be an insult.

Setanta will make it. I have no doubt. But i am having doubts on his brother despite me being his biggest fan. He is nowhere near last years form and sadly, i think he's starting to show signs of giving up.
