Hi TC's, been on holiday arrived back last Wednesday. Have not read any papers nor been on the internet. Could not be at the game on Saturday night either. However, I am a sad little BM. My mojo has gone and I am not feeling the love. I have this horrible feeling that the downward spiral for 2008 season could possibly be beginning. I do not mean to be negative however I am seeing history repetaing itself in which quite possibly we will have another very lean year. I was under no illusions as to where we would be, i just thought the tide had turned a little more by now. Perhaps i am feeling sorry for myself, maybe i do not even have a clue, its just creeping into me gut and it saddens me. Any thoughts? Can someone please give me something to hang my hat on, make me see that little ray on sunshine through the clouds, rebuild my faith so that I can go on Saturday expecting to win the game. No bullshit, fluff talk, where us Carlton faithful, just love, love, love the boys, however sometimes we may wear rose coloured glasses. I need that hope of fire re-lit in my gut. Please remind me why I am going to go through this all again.
Have an okay day, thats the best i can give as I am so not feeling the love today.

BM

PS - I like Juddy (no love) just not feeling it.
PSS - I liked Ratts 'on the couch last night', i am a big fan.
PSSS-Ackland is a spastice, i reckon i could almost do better

Love the fact that you're back- how was the holiday? BM, it's only round 9 and we're already jumping ahead of ourselves! If we managed to beat Wet Toast @ the House of Pain (with their premiership players), then surely, we are a chance to beat Freo over here- they're travelling worse than WC!

Well we've definetly improved. No losses bigger than 5 - 6 goals.
But then again.....
We've beaten Collingwood in our best game for a looooong time...
And we've beaten the bottom 2 teams :(
I guess it doesn't look real flash.
But it doesn't matter cos we're on the right track. Hawthorn were down the bottom a few years ago and it seemed like they'd never get back up.. now look at them. In the words of Axl Rose.. All we need is just a little patience

Thanks PDsPC, holiday was brilliant. Back at work to fund the next trip which hopefully will be Russia in November/December. Thanks for the positive vibe, i will start crossing all my bits in anticipation of the game. I must be honest i am just not feeling it. Beating West Coke, was great, just not impressive at all, the umpires gifted us as well. There was good bits agreed, but i cannot hang the rest of the season on that performance. Sorry i hate to be negative, its just what i am feeling.

I reckon we've played 1 and a half good games. 1 against the magpoos and half against the Eagles.

Funnily enough I reckon the second half against WC was better than the first because we held off their challenge and kicked away.

But yes, I'm very flat as well. We need to turn it around this week or face going around half way at 3-8.

Not good, not good at all.

The Duke - seeing it like that and feeling your negative vibe, makes it even worse. This seriously is demoralising.
Jake Ho3- Gunners at Calder, what a memory, if only Axl could serenade me, maybe that would make me feel better.

Have faith BM, even with our injuries, will beat Fremantle this week.
Don't know about Geelong, Port & Collingwood after that, but I am still confident, a little.

Seriously now i am pissed. With the replies I can read no confidence in your voices. That little swagger, the belief, the faith, the hope of actually believing again is going in us all. It is what it is, lets face it. Serioulsy i can read it in the replies. We are all feeling the same. It is just FLOWERED. Not happy at all. Dont bother pretending that we are okay, Freo will smash us on the weekend and that will be it. Seriously Just so Flowered.
Have a shit arvo (as i certainly will)
A pissed off and now angry BM as i can sense what all others are thinking in there posts. I had hoped i was wrong, but the feeling among the faithful is obviously there, just Flowered......

It could just be that it is that time in the month for all of us?
Anyway BM I believe we will win this game and I am chock full of confidence. I reckon the break came at a bad time for us and at a good time for the Lions. Our first quarter was that of a team that was not switched on and was still in holiday mode. Take away the first quarter and we actually outscored them and yes some people may say that they took their foot off but the last time we played them they got a similar start and flogged us.
BM just think of the young boys running around and turning into men, you know with hair and all that stuff. Just think of Krooz, Gibbs, Murph, Browne and co with hair and all that stuff just like Juddy. Oh by the way I have a hat stand at home which you can have if you like?

BM, it's time to look up because we are seriously doing better than we have been in the past 5 years.

We are no longer getting smashed, which is a massive upside from where we have come from.

We are fighting out games and not rolling over.

Our younger players are developing very nicely after some lean years and there is a game plan in place that will take time but we have seen how it works when all players are switched on.

We lost some earlier games, but our fitness levels were not aimed for coming out for round 1 with all guns blazing.

We have had some injuries that we could not afford to have but that is the life of a footy club and make do with the hand that you are dealt.

We are not the perfect team by any means, but we will get better and we will keep developing our players and build on the richness of our players already in place.

We will be a powerhouse again and look out when that day comes, because people will be crapping themselves at the thought of how powerful we will become.

Have faith in the players and the coaching staff and have faith in Greg and Sir Richard who will deliver to us the promised land called the 17th, 18th, 19th......it's a beautiful place and know that we will reach that soon because our time is coming..................

DownUnderChick - your optimism made me feel better, so thankyou, i still however believe that all aside we are just Fu**ed and the more i think about it the more fear i have of confirmation on Saturday at about 4:55pm. Your points are all valid, it just that it seems that all of that is not enough in the cruel harsh world of AFL football.
Woof - the visual was worth it, imagine how many of these little bucks i could break in and show the way of the world. However, my mojo is dying in relation to my little prodigees, even Juddy currently is not giving me my flutter. Definately not that time of the month!
Deano Supremo - thanks for the constructive input you muppet.
Back to work for me.

BM -

I'm expecting about 8 wins this year.

We should beat the Dockers this weekend and I'm very confident of knocking off both the Bombers and Tigers in a few weeks time.

As the year goes on we will improve IMO - Judd is yet to reach 100%, Walker still to return to the side, ditto Thornton and Jamieson will be back in a few weeks. On top of this our kids are growing with confidence and gradually adapting to Ratts game plan.

If only I was old enough to see Gunners in the hey day :(
I saw Axl and his goons at Rod Laver last year.. was awesome still but it wasn't the same. No Slash. No Duff. :( Ahh well

Look don't think about it too much. At the end of the day we beat them after quarter time. Yeah they were in cruise control but we showed something, last year we would have bent over and the rest would have followed. We are on the up and on the bright side we can't play worse than we did. Yes we played shithouse but it's kinda a positive knowing how much better we can play. On top of that, the focus should be next year and the 5 + years after that, which are still as bright as ever IMO. And remember we have some very important players to come back from injury, especially Walks, T-bird, Cloke, and banno and hampson will help

But yeah as I take your mind off it and just wait and see how we go on Saturday. If we belt Freo, last week will just seem like a little hiccup that we were always going to have along the way and will have more of.

If we lose, then by all means come and resume the thread and I'll join ya

This year doesn't even compare to last year - think about everything that has happened this year compared to last year:

1. We have JUDD - this automatically gives us a chance in any game because he is a matchwinner!

2. FEV is off the piss and firing again - he is putting in the second and third efforts that we all want to see, is kicking goals and looks fit and hungry.

3. MURPH is showing why he was the number 1 pick - has been consistently outstanding.

4. Our defense has improved, we have managed to keep teams under 100 points and we have seen some extremely encouraging signs from BOWER and JAMO. We have also done reasonably well in defence while missing our most experienced defender (THORNTON) and after losing a guy who was playing really good footy (BANNISTER) and missing one of our best rebounding defenders (WALKER).

5. We have KREUZER! A guy who is 200 odd cm, plays like a rover and already has shown he has a stack of courage and ability. Wait until he has some games under his belt...will be amazing!

6. We haven't been blown out of the water in any games, even in games when we have been thrashed early, the boys have stuck to the task and continued fighting out the game and the results have shown this.

7. We are getting the Carlton pride back - through Pratt, Swann and now Ratten, we are instilling passion into the players to play for the jumper. We wont take a backward step and will stick up for any teammates!

8. We have a coach that the players want to play for! Stevens came out last week and said that Ratten could well be the best coach he has played under and he has already learnt a hell of a lot from him. The coach has faith in the young guys and knows how best to teach them and get the best out of them.

9. We have 40,000 members! We are becoming strong off the field because the people can see that we are soon to become strong on the field.

10. And the main reason to be positive, we still have 14 weeks and many challenges ahead of ourselves to prove ourselves, earn respect and show the AFL and our supporters what we can do. Back the underdog because there is nothing better than when he comes out on top - get set, I think the second half of the year will surprise a lot of people!

Hows that BM - feeling better now?
