I think all clubs should publish both figures. A non-matchday member still stumps up with their hard earned to be part of the club, I was a country (Blue I think it was called) member for a year or two before I upgraded to silver and is still cost me $100 or thereabouts.

I reckon we do as well. Everytime i ask the club they give me a different figure. It hasnt moved since just before the crows game. We still have 8 home games left. We are in the best position we have been in in years.

I think the club are going to announce it with everyone thinking we are still short.

Does a BabyBlue membership count towards the tally.............?

If so....... Add +1 to the tally

As far as I know, yes, because their membership gets them entry to all matches.

No. It needs to be a 5 plus game membership.

For baby blue you get a membership card, but it is just a piece of plastic (it doesn't even have a barcode), babies are admitted free regardless of whether they have a membership or not.

What about people with the mental capacity of a 1 year old?

I have a feeling AGRO's Visy memberships are about to be renewed.

We will crack 40K, safe as houses.

Spoke with an official at the club this morning and we now have 31,862 members "at last count"

Record membership is not far off - we're set for a great year on & off the field!

That's three days before the first bounce.

Last year we were on 27909 two days before the first bounce.

We're 14.16% up based on days out from the season.

Around the same date in previous good years we had the following:

2003: 25072 @ 20/3 (Final: 33,525)

2005: 25226 @ 22/3 (Final: 33,354)

2007: 25451 @ 20/3 (Final: 35,431)

Which puts us 25.19% up on this time last year.

On the lower figure (days before first bounce) we're on target for 40448 members.

On the higher figure (same date last year) we're on target for 44,356.

There are a few wildcards (early excitement re Judd etc) that may have made people sign up earlier than usual but these should also convince some to sign up for the first time.

If we get a few wins and don't have too many bad results/poor press I'm tipping about 41K.

That was written on March 19.

From today's date to June 30 last year we added 2393 members.

If we do the same this year we'll hit 41643.

If I was a betting man, which of course I am not allowed to be, I would bet on an announcement tomorrow

The BEST bit of news in absolutely ages - congratulations to everyone inside the inner sanctum of the club and more importantly from the full Carlton family for making this possible!
I'll have a little skip in my step tomorrow knowing this - I think it might only be matched by the arrival of my Carlton Monopoly in 4 weeks!

Big milestone for the club. Well done to all involved.

In what year did we break 30,000 for the first time?

It seems like we've picked up the next ten thousand pretty quickly.

I've calculated total crowds for the year to be 423,300* with average being 52,916*. With 40,000 + members this year, is there scope for Carlton to have the most members** and draw the biggest crowds in the comp at some stage?

*Could not find official crowd figure for round 5
**Acknowledge that most, if not all non Victorian clubs have capped membership due to ground occupancy restrictions
