We have to raise the talent of the side. Bentick, Wiggins (unfortunately), and Ackland must not play another game in the navy blue.

Ackland is a hack footballer.
Bentick rarely strings 2 games together.
Wiggins is a tryer but thats all.

They have been given many chances .. enough is enough.

And your alternatives for Bentick and Wiggins are???

An inanimate carbon rod would do for Ackland nicely mind...

17 of Bentick's disposals were on target. He put in 2 tackles per quarter which is more than most for the entire game. He provided 2 goal assists. He committed 1 clanger.

Yeah, he's shithouse - why do we bother? .

I dont know why everyone gets up Bentick? He tries harder than others .... he tackles and gets the hard ball as good as any in our team.
Not given a fair enough chance i think... if he gets dropped this week ill be filthy... he is the scapegoat too many times because the match commitee are too scared to make tough decisions on blokes like Fisher and Stevens

AB's going allright.

There's just one criticism I have and that's that he drags the ball in under him too much risking holding the ball free kicks against him.

Hopefully Deisel's working with him on his ability to quickly and cleanly dispose of the ball when he gets possession. His intensity and hardness is brilliant.

Wiggo needs to simply score more, which I doubt he's capable of doing.

Bentick got slaughtered by Black. Black was the number 1 reason Brisbane killed us in the first quarter.

Like i said .. enough is enough.

Was Bentick on Power, Johnston and Brown as well?

Was AB in the ruck?

We've still got big problems with the structure of this side. We cannot afford injuries.

Bentick is one of our best - not worst.

Ackland was the number 1 reason Brisbane killed us in the first quarter. He handballed directly to an opponent twice on top of barely pretending to make an attempt to win the ruck.

Yep second that, Charman was like the only shark at a shipwreck for most of the game, 1st Qtr he bent Ackland over like 1st night in prison!!!

I think our problem isnt individual players its more a team thing.
Having Wig,bentick, carrazzo and Hadz in the team at the same time makes us a bit sluggish.

Wiggins marked well, presented well and kicked well just like the week before. Bentick is tough but lacks polish. There is a spot in a team for him but the team has to play around his strengths and cover for his weakness'.
Carazzo plays ok. Gets high numbers but rarely noticed. Doesnt hurt teams. Hadz is a good combo of Carazzo and Benticks strengths and has a great long Lions style shot on goal. Under done though.

I can see some of them players being dropped but it will be about balance more than anything.

All would be great in Sydney jumpers.

Ackland was crap ... but Bentick let Black do whatever he wanted.

No excuse for not manning up.

Get rid of him. Too many chances.

No doubt AB gives it 100% but its not good enough at this level. He lacks leg speed, he lacks any penetration in his kicking, has poor foot skills, as a midfielder he floats his kicks when they need to be low with a degree of penetration. He does no damage.

Richard Hadley has taken his spot and he struggled through a preseason, lets just hope Hadley can have an injury free preseason and take on season 2009.

Bentick, Ackland and Wiggo are only playing in the navy blue due to injury.

For me i would like to see Armfield, Austin, Benjamin, Anderson get a few games under there belt before Walks, T-bird, Houlahan and Harts come back in.

Trying to pin the blame for the loss on a few players is ridiculous. Actually, trying to pin nearly any loss on players 19 - 22 in a team is barking up the wrong tree nine times out of ten.

We were killed because we didn't run. We didn't run to provide an option for the player with the ball. We didn't run to stay goal side of opponents as play broke from stoppages.

We had a lot more handballs than they did, but most of our handballs went sideways or backwards to a player standing still. They handballed forwards or sideways to a player on the run. While our decision making and skills were pretty deplorable, most of the time there was such a lack of decent options presenting that there wasn't a good choice available.

And why did we miss so many tackles during the game? Because we had players standing still trying to stop runners coming through at pace with the ball. Technique and body size help, but when they're running in waves at stationary defenders, there isn't much you can do.

The number of times there'd be 6 or 7 Carlton players standing around where the stoppage was, after Brisbane fired out one quick handpass and then broke towards the goal in the wave was unbelievable.

The fault in this loss lies with the team as a whole, they played dumb football and no one put in the effort required. The good news is we know they can do a lot better than that, but damn was it frustrating to watch.
